Take all you have because you won't want to come back! You can do a lot by going to those time share things and saying no thanks. You get free rides and boat trips as well as helicopter rides. I did a lot of snorkeling and diving. Maui is the bomb! Try eating at Kimos and Cheese Burger in Paradise is fun. Good drinks and burgers. There is a great restaurant for breakfast in Lahaina with French windows I can't remember the name. It's across from Kimos.
The Hanah side is more of a jungle rain Forrest thing. Great black beaches and some water falls and pools.
The boat rides have food on them. Great Ohno or Mahi-mahi Burgers. Have the turtle beach coolers on the island of Lanai. |

Take as much money as you think you'll need. If you run out, you can always get more from the ATM.
Depending on where you are and what you eat and drink, factor $10 for breakfast, $15-$20 for lunch, and $30-$40 for dinner.
Happy travels! |

i'm from here, so here goes: if it you want to do bare minimum 100 to 250 per day... this includes compact car rental, fastfood breakfast, a good plate lunch (such as one from "da kitchen" in kihei, and a simple steak dinner at outbacksteakhouse located either in kihei or kahana.. hope you have a great time...
not sure if you are traveling by yourself or with companions... hence the above monetary range. eating at the hotels are relatively expensive, so eat out or get some groceries in-between... |

You will not need that much. I live here on Maui, and although things are expensive, it is not that bad. Using your credit card is the best way to pay, and the safest. Use travelers checks, for some of the money, then maybe 500 in cash. Go to Costco if you are a member, or go to Safeway for food and drink, but try and stay away from Star Market, as I paid 5.20, for a half gallon of milk, yesterday. I hate that overpriced no good store, but they do have pretty good fish. Aloha, and enjoy. p.s., When you come here, do not keep money in the car, or valuables, and always lock it up. At the place you are staying, use the room safe for valuables. On a whole, everybody is very nice here, but just keep yourself protected, from the few who steal, and you will have an excellent time. Aloha...................... |

How long are you going for? |

It depends on how well you want to eat and how much you want to drink. Hawaii is expensive, however there are ways around that. Be sure to pick up tourist guides (like "this week") as they will have all kinds of discounts for eating and drinking. If you are staying in a condo, you can go to the store for snacks and drinks. However I would set aside between $100 and $200 per day depending on your tastes. |

We spent more than $200 a day (about $250-$300) but that included everything. Some days we were able to get by on much less and some days we couldn't. |

I went to Maui two years ago and am going back this August. I presume that you are not wanting to calculate plane fare and lodging. With that said, you probably will need at least a couple thousand dollars (depending on your length of stay--which for me was two weeks). You won't need that much money if you aren't going on any excursions though. That is what skyrocketed our expenses, but they were worth every penny. Maui is the most luxurious and expensive of the Hawaiian islands. Trust me, nothing is cheap there, but you will love it no matter what you choose to do. FYI: Keep your eyes open for celebreties. They are all over Maui in the summer! Have a great trip! |

Well when I went what helped a lot with money was the all inclusive breakfast so if you don't have that remember you have to pay for three meals a day. Food adds up quick. Then you figure while you are there you might want to do some tours and site seeing. If you are a surfer: board rentals or a new one! Plus any shopping and travel so I would say bring about $1000 or better yet $2000 in case you want to extend your stay! |

you might want to take travelers checks with you. That way you do not have to much cash on you when you travel!
Depends on the amount of time you will stay there. about 30 a day will do |

Instead of wasting your money on a vacation you should send it to poor people in Africa. Children are dying in Africa and you're wasting your money on a frivolous trip. |
