Depending on what part of Detroit you're in. Wayne State District: Fairly safe. Fenkell & Meyers: Are you F'in crazy!!
Typically, downtown Detroit and the Wayne State District is the safest, although you can get robbed anywhere. Even in the ritzy suburbs.
Just keep you eyes open and use common sense. |

Very safe. I do it all the time. If we are going to get you it doesn't matter if its morning or night. 'Metro detroit' how ever is a different story. Lots of racism, wife killers and child molesters. I wouldn't be caught dead on 9 mile and Van dyke after dusk. You could be in for a very long night. |

It depends on which area you are talking about. If youre asking this you are probably not familiar with the city. I would advise not to. |

About as safe as any other urban metro area.
Also depends on your perception and whats going on at the time. If you walk like a Duck and not like a Detroiter with tourist on your head you will stand out like a sore thumb. If you wear attire that is not typical of residents you may be a victim-but this is true anywhere.
BTW Detroit handles our own-the young guy who beat up the sr got beat up in jail-he had it coming and should have known the the criminal honor system still exists on some level.

I really would not recommend it unless you are trying to become killed or permanently injured. You cannot trust anyone on the nighttime streets of Detroit. Good luck trying though... |

I personally would not walk them alone at night, but I would walk them with a couple of my friends. I think there is safety in numbers. I would not roam the streets, but go from point A to point B and don't talk to anybody. |

It is not safe to walk the street alone at nighttime. The streets are very dark and do not provide enough light and the city has a lot of crime at nigthtime. |

Dont do it. My husband has seen people during the day beating people or other terrible things. I woulndt do the night walk alone. |
