Wow, $1400 is quite a bit of $ for each person. That gives me the impression you don't want to just camp out in Yosemite.
You can visit the bay area, which is a lot more than just San Francisco. 7 days is too long to station in one city esp a small one like SF (don't get me wrong, it's my favorite and the most beautiful city in this world). You can go around, visit Palo Alto (anyone interested in Stanford?) or Berkeley (now that's the REAL good school). With a week you can visit some central coast places too, like Monterey.
If you want to leave Cal, too many choices. With $1400 you can easily drive through several national parks and end up in Yellow Stone.
Or you can fly together to New York.
I wonder how far your parents will let you go? And driving is probably an issue.
If you were college seniors, with $1400 X 6, I would fly to Japan or China! I just looked and it's only ~$600 to fly into Tokyo. Sorry, biased, my favorite traveling destination. Even though Japan is expensive, you can find cheap places to stay. China can be very reasonable. But I am carried away...these are high schoolers. On the other hand, I might let my son do it when he graduates in 6 years, if all 6 people are mature and know what they are doing... |

how about a cruise? san diego to cabo and ensenada for 6 days is only 449 right now. its what we are doing for our grad. we will be going too but her and friends will be on their own and we won't have to worry. she has only four rules to obey. no leaning over the edge no going into staterooms of people they meet on the boat and to knock on my door when they return to their rooms and when at port they stay within the same area we are but not neccesarily right with us. other than that they are free to do what they want for as long as they want. if you are all 18 and since there are 6 of you it would be a safe and very fun thing for you to do as well. have fun whatever you do. stay safe and stay together and please if you drink don't drink and drive. and if you do this remember you will be out of the U.S and you should keep in mind that laws are very very different. |

You should clarify your question. As you posted this on the LA board, I'm assuming you're interested in LA as your destination.
See other posts for ideas in LA. $1400.00 per head should be plenty, unless that includes airfare.
Enjoy. |

1) Yosemite.
2) Grand Canyon.
You can do the big city thing anytime. But these two locations are best to do when you're young enough to explore them, and old enough to enjoy their awesomeness.
Have a blast. |

Ignore the cruise idea....if you are all 21 or under you have to have a 25yr old stay in the room with you. Otherwise all of your parents have to go with. The cruise lines are way strict now on age.
Seems you have plenty to spend at $1400 per person. Id say go to Hawaii or Florida. If your parents are ok about it Mexico, either Cancun or Puerto Vallarta will work but you all need to have passports.
Hawaii will be the easiest. You can even at 18yrs rent a car there. Honolulu will be your cheapest and have some nightlife too. There are a couple of under 21 clubs I believe.
Florida might be another possibility but I havent flown anyone there except for spring break.
Another thing is make sure all are serious about going as some will say yes but not really have any intention of paying up let alone letting their parents know so they can pay. Also, get travel insurance in case. For hawaii or mexico, The travel packager Pleasant Holidays is awsome. Go to your local AAA if you are a member as they have a $30per person perk if you book thru them, they know hawaii real well.
Good luck! |

For a week? Fly to Dublin, Ireland. Get a ticket from Aer Lingus for like $600 and stay in a hostel. Since there will be 6 of you you can get a private room or rent out a smaller 8 bed room. I went to Ireland/Scotland for 5 weeks for about $3200 and that included airfare. I wouldn't recommend the UK since they use the pound and the exchange rate sucks. |

Hiking in Idaho Springs, Colorado. It's a beautiful drive, and while you are here you can visit Cave of the Winds and Seven Falls. I was raised in California, and loved it, but Colorado is amazing. Cave of the Winds is a huge natural cavern that you have to see to believe. Check to see when it opens before you come though, because I'm not sure. Idaho Springs is a quaint old mining town in the Colorado Mountains that runs alongside the Colorado river, with places where you can rent rafts, or fish, or whatever comes to mind. (Not rent fish- go fishing! lol) Seven Falls... bring a camera! It's one of the most stunning views in Colorado. The trip definitely would fit in your budget, and would be unforgettable. |

Take a roadtrip up to northern California. I did it for my senior trip and it was a lot of fun, and not too expensive. We stopped to hike through national parks, but also hit up big cities like San Franciso. If you get a van you can easily fit 6 people. It was such a great bonding experience right before we went off to different colleges. |

Aloha !! Go to Hawaii !!! And for $1400 a person, you will get flight/hotel---at a nice 4 star hotel on the beach, like I love Outrigger on the beach in Waikiki or Turtle Bay Resort on The North Shore--& that's for like 6 days, so book Hawaii, you will LOVE IT !!! Go to the Paradise Cove Luau, Take the Circle Island Tour, Buy ALL your souvenirs at the Aloha Flea market (swap meet) at Aloha Stadium---they have bargains!! The stores in Honolulu are expensive, but go to the flea market. They'll shuttle you to & from your hotel in Waikiki. Take a sunset dinner cruise--it is beautiful scenery!! On my dinner cruise, we saw whales!! Go, you will have the time of your life & you will fall in love with Hawaii, like me!!! Aloha!!! |
