Disneyland is located in Anaheim, CA. It is the original Disney theme park, and opened July 17, 1955. It is part of the Disneyland Resort, which includes Disney's California Adventure. FYI, it is called Disneyland, not Walt Disneyland (explanation below).
Walt Disney World opened Oct 10, 1971, near Orlando, FL. Since Florida had so much more land than Anaheim, it is much bigger. There are 3 other "sister parks" in this resort: EPCOT (Environmental Prototype Community of Tomorrow), Disney/MGM Studios, and Disney's Animal Kingdom. Walt Disney died before WDW opened, so the name was changed from "Disney World" to "Walt Disney World", as a tribute to Walt. Everybody knows Walt, but his brother Roy was just as much as part of building Disneyland as Walt. |

Walt Disney World is located in Lake Buena Vista, Florida, and it consists of four different theme parks, two water parks, Downtown Disney, and over 20 different Resort options. Disneyland (the original) is located in Anaheim, California, but it only consists of two theme parks, a Downtown Disney District, and three hotels. There are also three other Disneyland Resorts around the world - Paris, France; Hong Kong, China; and Tokyo, Japan. |

There is a big difference; I have been to both many times and the size is a huge difference.
Florida has about 15 times the land mass that California has.
Walt Disney World Resort, often referred to as simply Walt Disney World or Disney World, is a major recreational resort most famous for its theme parks. The resort is owned and operated by the Walt Disney Parks and Resorts segment of The Walt Disney Company. It is located in Lake Buena Vista and Bay Lake, Florida, outside the city limits of Orlando.
Construction began in 1967, less than a year after Walt Disney's death. The operation opened on October 1, 1971, as the Magic Kingdom, and since has added Epcot, Disney-MGM Studios and Disney's Animal Kingdom theme parks.
In addition to the four main theme parks, the resort contains two water parks, six golf courses, a sports complex, an auto race track, twenty resort hotels and numerous shopping, dining, and entertainment offerings. It even has its own fire department. The 20,000+ acre property is the largest theme park resort in the world, although over the past decade significant amounts of acreage have been sold off for housing and other developments, including land now occupied by the Disney-built (but not Disney-owned) community of Celebration.
It is accessible from Central Florida's Interstate 4 via Exits 62B (World Drive), 64B (US 192 West), 65B (Osceola Parkway West), 67B (SR 536 West), and 68 (SR 535 North). In addition, in 2006 a new western entrance opened from Exit 8 on State Road 429 (Florida), the Western Expressway.
Meg Crofton was named president of the resort in August 2006, replacing Al Weiss, who had overseen the site since 1994.
In 1959, the Walt Disney Company, under the leadership of Walt Disney, began looking for land for a second resort to supplement Disneyland, which had opened in Anaheim in 1955. Market surveys revealed that only 2% of Disneyland's visitors came from east of the Mississippi River, where 75% of the population of the United States lived. Additionally, Walt Disney disliked the businesses that had sprung up around Disneyland, and wanted control of a much larger area of land for the new project.
Some rumors, told as legend to incoming Disney World cast members, suggest that Disney wanted the large amount of land so that visitors could be better isolated from the trappings of the real world. Most common of these is the story of a family that left Disneyland early because they saw building rush hour traffic on the Santa Ana Freeway from the Skyway ride.
Walt Disney first flew over the Orlando site (one of many) on November 22, 1963. The airplane he traveled in would be used by future Disney executives to travel to the resort from the company headquarters in Burbank, California and now can be seen at the Disney-MGM Studios. He saw the well-developed network of roads, including Interstate 4 and Florida's Turnpike, with McCoy Air Force Base (later Orlando International Airport) to the east, and immediately fell in love with the site. When later asked why he chose it, he said, "the freeway routes, they bisect here." Walt Disney focused most of his attention on the "Florida Project" both before and after his participation at the 1964-1965 New York World's Fair, but he died on December 15, 1966, almost five years before his vision was realized.
To avoid a burst of land speculation, Disney used various dummy corporations and cooperative individuals to acquire 27,400 acres (111 km²) of land. The first five-acre (20,000 m²) lot was bought on October 23, 1964, by the Ayefour Corporation (a pun on Interstate 4).
In May 1965, major land transactions were recorded a few miles southwest of Orlando in Osceola County. Two large tracts totaling $1.5 million were sold, and smaller tracts of flatlands and cattle pastures were purchased by exotic-sounding companies such as the Latin-American Development and Management Corporation and the Reedy Creek Ranch Corporation. In addition to three huge parcels of land were many smaller parcels, referred to as "outs." |

Walt Disney World is located in Lake Buena Vista, Florida just outside of Orlando. This park is the second one built by Walt Disney, and is the most famous.
Disneyland, not Walt Disney Land is located in Anaheim, California. This was the first park that Walt Disney built. |

Walt Disney World is located in the Reedy Creek Improvement District in central Florida. It is inclusive of four parks and a ton of hotels, plus Downtown Disney and various golf courses.
There is no such thing as Walt Disney Land, but there is a Disneyland located in Anaheim, California. It has two parks and two or three hotels. |

Disney worl is in Florida and Disney Land is in CA.
The actuall parks are not all that different the difference lies in the surrounding parks. Disney World offers the Animal Kingdom ( I think that's what it's called)and Epcot and Disney Land offers California Adventure. |

Disneyland in Anaheim California is the first park and is a much smaller version. Disney World in Florida covers a lot of acreage and has a movie studio. Epcot center with some of the rides from Disneland Anaheim. I don't think Walt Disney ever saw the building start of the Disney World but the plans were originally drawn up by him. |

Hi, the difference between the two is simply the specific Disney theme park. Walt Disney World is located in Florida, while Walt Disney Land is the location in southern California. Enjoy |
