The American Museum of Natural History is great..I went to the Bronx Zoo last time I was there and the indoor exhibits were open and that was great...Make sure to go around feeding time as that is when the animals are most active. There is a double decker bus tour called the "Blue Line"(I think) that gives a great tour if it's your first time visiting that I really enjoyed.

Statue of Liberty -- that was my favorite place to see in NY. The Art Museum is fabulous, too. The shopping is good, and there are many fine restaurants. A walk through Central Park (during the DAYTIME) is nice, also.

DO THIS SCAVENGER HUNT! It is by far the most fun I have ever had in New York. It is called the accomplise now. It is a scavenger hunt through out new york city. You will have to do some walking but you do get to see a lot of sights. You will walk through china town, eat at resturants, stop at different places on the scavenger hunt. I recommend you do it with friends or a group because there is some thinking involved. But like I said you will have loads of fun doing the scavanger hunt. Here is the link. Enjoy your trip to NYC!

Statue of Liberty(P.S. if want to go inside her(if they're allowing it) you have to make reservations like at least a month ahead of time!), Ground Zero (9-11), the Subway (lol.), Empire State Building (86th floor, so fun.), definatly Central Park, and you should go see some broadway musicals. ^_^

Also, if you get up at 6am then go to where the Today Show is, you could be on TV! ^_^ Me and my dad did that. My arm was on TV and I shoke Al Roker's hand! ^_^ That was fun. Have fun in New York.

to start with you should get two tourist books that are ,ust haves for this trip: the zagat book on restaurants in new york, AND the irreverent guide for new york. Those should hold you on your feet but here are some must see spots in new york and some that most say are must sees but really arent worth it
-if youre into art visit the MoMa(museum of modern arts), the metropolitan museum (best one), natural history museum, theres a museum for everything.
-if youve never been to a wax museum i would recommend madame tusauds
-times square schedule a night out to a restaurant(visit the giant toys r us!)
-central park
-if youre into thee beatles i would go to strawberry fields
- take the state and island ferry to see the statue of liberty or go up if you must but remember it will be more expensive
-china town is not recommendable for my taste..very dirty and not suitable for tourist action
-if you like a nice view go up the empire state building...personally i didnt enjoy it much but i guess its one of those must dos
-if youre on a budget make sure to lunch at local delis, pizzerias and salad bars for filling food.
-now you must treat yourself to the many, many restaurants of the big apple look at the zagat for more reference a big tourist place is serendipity that has some frozen hot cocoa to die for but make a booking...
-fifth avenue
-rockefeller center.check if the ice rink is open
-theres endless things to do in NYC read the reference book and youll manage like a local...dont forget to take along comfy shoes because you WILL be doing a lot of walking
good luck =)
