I'm going to Orlando (first 2 weeks) in June 09. Are the American schools on holiday at this time?

Many schools are out at this time of year. It varies from district to district, but many schools are done in May.

June, July, and August are extremely busy at the parks. Kids are out for vacation, so expect it to be really busy. Also the weather is really hot and humid, even being a 24 year long resident the weather during those months bother me. Its hot, it rains practically every afternoon, for a couple of hours, but then clears up. It is hurricane season, but its just the start and usually not many hurricanes come that early in the season. Even though its crowded and the weather is hot, you will enjoy the time here. The parks are amazing. Suggestion is get to the parks early, go to the hotel for a nap and the pool for the afternoon, then go back after dinner.

Yes, schools in Florida finish early in the year. Some time in mid May.
They also start in mid August. Because of the high temperatures, the schools tend to close for the hottest part of the year to save on air conditioning costs.

In some states, children attend school until the end of June. The school districts closest to Walt Disney World, however, let out in the first week of June. The last day of school for Orange County is June 3. The last day for Osceola County is June 4.

Many schools across the country have no classes in June. We live in a suburb of Denver, Colorado and school lets out mid May. Many people do their travel early June. Personally, we will go during fall break, last week of October, our favorite time to be at WDW.

Some are and some aren't. It really depends on the school and the area. Some schools will stay in much longer, while some will be out much earlier.

Depends - all schools are on different schedules. But yes, some schools will already be over. If you must go in the summer, the earlier the better. Crowds will get gradually worse throughout the month of June.

most school age kids kindergarden-12th grade stay in school til the end of june but some schools get out in the end of may. and colleges and universities get out in mid may.
so that time of year is quite crowded.

A few high schools will be out the 2nd week of June.

Many colleges will be out.

The East coast isn't out of school yet but I know some places on the West coast are. Schools on the East coast get out at the end of June.

My best suggestion to you would be to call the Orange County Public School Board to find out the information you require. They do not have the 2008-2009 year schedule on line yet that I can find. They link below should help. UCF and Valencia Community College are officially out, however they do have summer classes. Hope this helps. Go to Orange County Public Schools, Florida.
