I'm trying to decide what state to move to. Can you help?

I'm 25 and want to open my own tanning salon. I am looking to move some where, where it's not a high cost of living and some where I can raise I family. I live in Pa now but don't want to raise a family here. I don't like places that are too fast paced. Like I know I shouldn't live somewhere like FL, Ca, or Ny. Can you think of a state that you think would sound good for me?

Coastal Delaware. I believe this state has not sales tax and you can live inexpensively.

lol... pa definately isnt fast paced. i wouldnt recommend cali.. taxes out the *** for everything.. its probably the hardest state to own your own business in. florida probably doesnt need too many more tanning salons.. its a beach state. that doesnt mean there arent hyper barbie teenagers who wont flock in anyways for that nice artificial glow.. but anyway.. ny.. never actually been. looks pretty tho and unless youre in nyc it doesnt seem to terribly fast paced.. i have family in upstate and friends in buffalo, they seem to love it. best wishes with your venture

ohio! the cost of living isn't outrageous, its a good place to raise a family, and we could always use more tanning salons!

If you are planning a tanning salon, I'd say a northern state. I'm originally from Ohio, and it snows there. Some of it is "big city" while other parts are country-fied.
I am moving to NC in January to get the heck out of Florida.

Texas, if you like rednecks.
Best estate economy EVER.
Get a gigantic mansion for cheap.
And it's slow paced.

Arkansas, we certainly aren't faced paced down here!

Idaho

The Carolinas, or maybe Texas

Despite what pink has said, we, in Texas, are not all rednecks. But anyway, Texas is a good state to live in. The economy is better here than in most states, we also have more lower crime areas and good schools. You can also live near a big city and get all the benefits of a big city without actually living in the big city (and usually better parking too sense we have all this urban sprawl going on). Or Oklahoma which is very similar to Texas in many ways. and Both have lower than average costs of living, no you can't buy a mansion for cheap (moron) but you can get a decent sized house for a decent price. Oklahoma is one of the few areas (OKC in particular) that has not had it's housing bubble popped. And where I am, in Texas, it just looks like the housing market slowed a bit.

But overall both, very nice places to live. With nice people and quality educational outlets like major Universities and lower crime overall... even though like most other areas we have our high crime areas.

Good luck in your decision.

Georgia, SC, NC. All those places would be good.

Sounds like you would like the midwest. IL and MO are good, but the weather there is very strange.

North Carolina! It's not fast paced, the cost of living is reasonable, and the weather is nice. They have a winter season there too, so people will still go tanning. I like the town of Cary. It's a good place to raise a family and close to all the conveniences of the Raleigh-Durham metro area.

a state like Washington or Oregon, possibly Idaho or North Carolina as well... they are calm states where the cost of living is rather low and not including Idaho, have relatively mild weather

North Dakota. People here tan all the time during the winter, low cost of living, slow pace.

Enjoy!

Move to a state that doesn't get any sunlight, like Washington or Oregon... Tanning salons are a waste in states like Florida...

Move to Michigan. Everyone needs a tan there.

If you want to open a tanning salon you should move to maine.
Personally i think its beautiful and in the summer it is warm.
Some cities here are very calm especially in a small town.
