If you just want to have a casual, relaxing weekend, I would recommend renting a cottage. Maybe one around a ski lodge? Knowing Michigan weather, it's probable that it will still be snowy in March.
Alpine Valley is about an hour from Detroit:
http://www.skialpinevalley.com/directions/
Cannonsburg is about 2.5 hours:
http://www.cannonsburg.com/
Snow Snake Ski and Golf if 2.5 hours:
http://www.snowsnake.net/golf_outings.php
(Which might be fun because if it's warm you can golf- even if you don't golf sometimes it's fun to just go with your girlfriends and be silly)
If you're not into that, I would suggest just looking on Craig's List to find some vacation homes for rent around here. You could also probably search Yahoo, I don't know your price range or location preference so it would probably be easier for you to look.
Here is a good one, especially because there are 3 cottages next to each other and there's 20 of you:

I'm not really a fan, but lots of people like Frankenmuth too. Have fun! It's exciting that some people are still putting their money into Michigan- I hate that everyone is telling you to go to other states! Help our economy! Vacation here! |

The Montague Inn in Saginaw. It is an old estate with carriage house as well as the main house. They cater to get togethers like yours. A beautiful estate with good food but Saginaw not a great city to stroll around in . It would be a great place for you all to hang out at. Hope you choose it . I know you won't be sorry. |

go to Frankenmuth
You can walk around Frankenmuth , relax at the pool at your hotel , eat the famous chicken dinner and shop to your hearts content at Birch Run

Frankenmuth is an hour away, and great for a weekend. Several hotels with pools etc. lots of little shops and of course Bronners, Zenders etc.
Alpine Valley isn't a a good destination, I live right near it. But...
If that doesn't work for you, I'd graciously accept your group (20 women right?) to my house up here in beautiful White Lake. I would do everything to make your weekend wonderful!

So you want to be with in 2 hours of Detroit? Well I know that it takes about 2hours to fl to Panama City FL, New Orleans, Pensacola FL, and about 3 to Orlando. My point is get out of Michigan. |

Double JJ Ranch in Rothbury? I know that it's not with in 2 hours of Detroit, but right now, they have a cheap special:Starting at just $99 per night for FOUR people, you can stay overnight and choose to go on a horseback trail ride or play in the Gold Rush Indoor Waterpark. That would be $25 per gal, which is incredibly cheap, and would maybe be worth the 3 hour drive. They also have sleigh rides, which would be fun! About 10 miles away from the ranch is the World's Largest Weather-vane, and that could be a fun photo opportunity for the twenty of you...Notice that I'm capitalizing on "fun" here...
Have you ever used www.michigan.org? That's a great site to use when traveling around the mitten. Once you make your decision on where you gals are going, log onto that site and type in the city you'll be in and plan away! Have fun where ever you end up visiting.

Depends on what you mean by "just hanging out". If you mean just hanging out you might try Crystal Mountain Resort. If you mean having a nice time with dinner, theater and clubbing then the previous answer of Chicago would be my selection. |

I've heard women talk about some place in Windsor, across the River, called Danny's. Never been there, so I couldn't tell you what it's like. But women seem to really enjoy it. |

Head to Chicago or Toronto, you won't regret the extra couple of hours. |

Toronto or Cleveland (The Flats). Toronto is like three but it's worth it and Cleveland is about the same. Good times.
Seriously though, Grand Bend in Canada is awesome for summer. IT's a beach town kind of place where you can walk around with no shoes on or whatnot Very hippie. It's practically a ghost town most of the time, but the summers it's like the place to be.
Google it. |

Drive up to or rent a bus, probabably cheaper, to UP/ Mackinaw Island. I did that once years ago, my dad took the whole family up, it's a very nice place. Or you could go further up to Sue.St.Marie.
There is no great place to have fun, 2 hours out of Detroit, only construction.
PS: To the guys calling out Chicago, it is 224 miles from Detroit, if you go straight out of I94 W. That is the straightest shot. Then again Mackinaw Island is 193 miles up I75. |

Here are some cool things to do in Monroe County (about 45 minutes from Detroit):
In Dundee there are several NEW hotels (including one with an indoor waterpark, if you're into that) & restaurants, Cabelas, St. Julian's Winery, Swan Creek Candle Company, Russell Stover, Silver Bells Christmas Shop and lots of other little shops.
In Lambertville you can go to Paint Your Masterpiece, a "paint your own pottery studio" (http://www.paintyourmasterpiece.com/), then go to Lite the Way and have Kimmie do your reading (http://www.litetheway.com). These are both in the same shopping plaza.
Monroe has the BRAND NEW Del Rio Suites. Haven't seen them yet but hear they're beautiful. (http://www.delriomanagement.com/). In Monroe, you can check out performances at either the River Raisin Center for the Arts or the La-Z-Boy/Meyer Theatre. |
