You always have the staples:
Six Flags
Hurricane Harbor
Zoo's (Recommend Ft. Worth over Dallas)
Imax
Bowling
Then you have the stuff that doesn't get mentioned much:
Dallas Childrens Theatre http://www.dct.org/
Museum of Nature and Science (Dallas: just added a "Science of the Circus Exhibit" and has a wonderful "Childrens Museum") http://dallaschildrens.org/
Museum of Science and Natural History (Ft. Worth and currently under construction) http://www.fwmuseum.org/home/index.html |

Do you live here or you're just visiting for a day?
For quick visits you have 6 Flags (technically in Arlington, but still close) and a great water park next to it.
There's also the nearby Great Wolf Lodge which is kid-oriented resort & water park. |

drive to your nearest Dart rail station, and go to the West End.
The World Aquarium is there, and its really nice.
its SO hot outside, I would'nt recommend doing any outside activities until August is over. |

you can drive to a strawberry patch and pick your own strawberries, this is a place i have heard about near fort worth or arlington (i'm not that familiar with this area) its called gnismer farms and you can pick other things other than strawberris, i think. here is a website with more info and a website that lists other places where you can pick your own fruit.

It was 103 degrees today in Dallas. There is a heat advisory tomorrow. There have been a lot of swim areas and pools that has an illness that killed a 6 year old today so I would not go to the pool or swimming areas until this virus is clear.
To stay cool you could take her to Chuck e Cheese Pizza, a movie, Build A Bear Workshop in a mall near where you are and have her build a bear. I think there are some cute movies for kids out. My neice and nephew just went to one.
Have fun. (SeaWorld is about 4 hours from here.) |

give her options and let her decide. i know she's young but she is old enough to know what she likes to do. maybe take her to a movie (something like space chimps) or just to a park. (6 year olds CAN have a lot of energy)
it really depends on her personality. if she likes to shop take her to the mall. if she likes video games. is she likes video games take her to an arcade.
i think your best shot is the movie personally. |

Go bowling.
Everybody likes bowling.
Maybe ask her what she would like to do, I'm sure she'd love the option of doing what she loves. |

I lived in Texas when I was 6 and the one thing I specifically remember is going to Sea World with my family. Its kinda expensive but so worth your money! There's alot to do there and a ton of great attractions, they even let the really little kids feed the dolphins now. So check it out if you're looking to splurge a little. Also I dont remember the name of the town but its a small town and it has whats called the "minature horse farm" if I remember correctly its very close to Dallas. Really inexpensive and fun!
Good luck! |

Go out and hike and take in the beauty around you. Of course, you'll have to drive away from Dallas, and it'll be very hot.
I live in Texas, and I absolutely adore nature! hiking is a great way to get close to your daughter and nature.
Other than that, I have nothing. I can guarantee you it'll be scorching. It was almost 100 today in Houston. |
