I agree with everything Ally mentioned in her response. Additional advice I have would be;
If you can, stay at one of the Disney Resorts. By staying at one of the many different resorts, you can utilize the free transportation Disney provides to and from the airport, as well as among their parks and other resorts. As a resort guest, you can also utilize the Extra Magic Hours at the different parks. Depending on the day, a certain park will open early or stay open late just for resort guests.
I also suggest that you eat at some of the amazing restaurants that Disney has. You can utilize Disney's "Dining Finder" to read up on the different restaurants, finding out their price ranges as well as what type of food they serve. The Dining Finder can be found on Disney's site. The link is;
http://disneyworld.disney.go.com/wdw/dining/diningFinder?id=DiningFinderPage
Some of my personal favorites are;
Coral Reef Restaurant - Epcot
Le Cellier Steakhouse - Epcot
Teppan Edo - Epcot
50's Prime Time Café - Disney's Hollywood Studios
Mama Melrose's Ristorante Italiano - Disney's Hollywood Studios
Narcoossee's - Disney's Grand Floridian Resort & Spa
'Ohana - Disney's Polynesia Resort
Spoodles - Disney's BoardWalk
The number to call for reservations is (407) WDW-DINE (939-3463)
I hope you have a great time. Disney is easily my favorite vacation destination. |

It is very expensive, so plan for the unexpected. Gas, meals, and other neccesities well exceed the norm on vacations. Disney World in itself can cost you 4-5 bucks for a bottle of water! |

Magic Kingdom first! Get a picture of you in front of the castle when you get there, you'll always enjoy it. Go see the Pirates of Car., Haunted Mansion, etc. Been there 3 times...so far. |

Well, it depends what you wanna do; however, you are going to want to plan ahead and accept that you can't do everything in three days, because there is a heck of a lot to do. Here is a brief description of each park:
Magic Kingdom: You arrive at the park either via boat or monorail. Very princess-oriented and definetly for the young at heart. There is the Cinderella castle (of course), but there is also "Main Street" which has a lot of fun little shops. Lots of rides, but a lot of it is meant for kids. There are also resteraunts and firework shows every night.
Animal Kingdom: As the name sugests, animals! There are different areas representing different areas of the world, like the safari ride is in the african section. This is a little more amusement-oriented and there although there are fun rides like the Mt. Everest roller coaster and a bird show that is really entertaining. There is a lot to learn here about animals and "the circle of life".
MGM: When I was here I attended a workshop called "How to draw Winnie the Pooh"; very fun. There is all sorts of things here from how to make special effects to how to create cartoons. There are also roller coasters like the "Rockin Roller Coaster" and the Tower of Terror and fun shows to see at night. I think that this park is a little more adult-oriented than the previous two.
Epcot: By far my favorite park. The whole park is created around a lake where they hold firework shows and walking around the lake is like walking around the world. It has amazing recreations of different areas of the world like Italy, Germany, and China and is all-in-all an awe-inspiring world tour. There are shops in each little part of the world and attractions everywhere. Way less rides in this park, but an amazing cultural experience.
Typhoon Lagoon: This might not be open when you go, but if it is then it is basically like a supreme water park. It is definetly fun, but if you are only going for 3 days, I probably wouldn't go unless you are really into that kind of stuff.
Blizzard Beach: Again, might not be open when you go (for mantienance) and superb water park, but don't know if I would go with only 3 days. However, if you really want to go to a water park, I would probably suggest this one.
Overall, Disney World is an amazing experience that brings out the child in everyone and really makes dreams feel like they can come true. Don't forget to bring sunscreen, comfortable walking shoes, and a camera. Hope you have an amazing birthday! |

Pick up a map at your hotel and plan your day as much as possible. Fast passes are a life saver (especially on really popular rides). |

First and most important tip:
In order to save a lot of money, look into renting a vacation home instead of staying at a hotel or Disney resort hotel. Sometimes for less than $100/night, you get a full house with a private pool, garage, washer/dryer, and separate bedrooms. Here is the best place to look

Decide if you are driving or flying. If you are flying, you should book through Southwest.com for the best flight rates. Also, if you are not getting a rental car, be sure to stay at a vacation property that offers a shuttle to the theme parks. |

I'm going to Disney World to celebrate my 19th birthday in january 2009 but theres only a few things you can do for a more grown up celebration. you can go on the websites and find more information but you can get a birthday button that all the cast members are trained to look for and they will wish you a happy birthday and sometimes give you free stuff or announce your bday or sing to you which will make you feel special all day and you can wear the button everyday that you are there and get attention the entire time. also the place your staying at make sure to let them know its your bday they will most likely leave a little something in your room for you if you go out the first day and you can get special phone calls from cast members if you like and if you tell the resturaunt your going to that its your bday they will most likely give you a special desert =) have fun ! |

We just got back from a week there. You're going to love the Christmas decorations in the Magic Kingdom! Do you have tickets for the Christmas party at the Magic Kingdom one night? It snows on Main Street and it's just breathtaking. Be sure and see all the Christmas lights at night at MGM. You won't believe it. You didn't say WHEN you plan to go.
*****Just read you're going in March. You'll miss the Christmas stuff, but there's still plenty to see and do. Are you staying INSIDE on Disney property? We've been there so many times coming from Indiana. So we're pros! |

stay in a Disney resort if you can afford it. Pop Century is kinda cool.
You need a little more than a day to see Epcot. Unless you have young kids, you could skip the Magic Kingdom- although I prefer the Magic Kingdom fireworks to the Epcot fireworks. There is a whole bunch of other stuff in orlando, but my favorite is "medieval times".
Alot of the other hotels in Orlando are OLD with crappy towels. Take your own unless you like drying off with sandpaper.
Pay attention now- this is the rmost important thing...
Do NOT under any circumstances buy into any of those "discount disney " tickets sold at the hotels. They say all you have to do is "tour" these timeshare properties. They basically trap you without your car- far away from the park.. Yes, your ticket is $15-20 less, but now you have lost 2 1/2 to 3 hours of Disney.
It only took *once* to learn that lesson.

Make sure you get the ride pass...the one that lets you bypass all the lineups for rides! Assuming, of course, that you like rides!
Also, bring lots of refreshments...and eat outside of the park!! The food there is mediocre at best and extremely overpriced!! I recommend Chillie's. Yum yum!!
Are you going in a group? You may want to invest in some walkie-talkies...in case the group wants to split up and reconvene later. We did that and it worked out perfectly!
Are you travelling with children younger than 4? If you are, beware that they may find it extremely boring, and get cranky and tired. If you're not travelling with young children, you may want to get to the park after 2 or 3pm to avoid all the babies and strollers.
Have a good trip! Happy birthday! |
