I am taking a lady friend to a Broadway Show, do we need to dress up, like suit and dress?

broadway is a once in a lifetime experience. so if you really want to impress this lady, go all out! put on your sunday's best, and watch her fall straight into your arms. good luck, sounds like a very romantic thing to do. she must be a special gal! |

Definitely dress casual. For you, that means button-down shirt and nice pants. For her, well, just tell her dress casual and she'll know what to wear. |

It would be great if you would dress up. The days of attending the theatre in tuxes and long formal gowns is long gone, but it's nice to have a reason to dress up and make an occasion special ... especially if this is an evening performance. A matinee performance you can tone it down a little, but I'd still like to see guys in nice shirts/ties and slacks, and gals in nice dresses or pants outfits ... definitely no jeans, shorts, sweatsuits, etc. |

Are you going in the afternoon, or the evening? If it is to be evening, dress up! |

Absolutely. The classier the better. |

I wouldn't reccomend Jeans or sweats. Nice pants and a nice button down shirt or nice polo or a skirt and a sweater set should be fine |

I've never been, but if I did I would want to go all out, maybe formal wear. You only live once, so live it up. |

If you have "orchestra" seats (main floor, center) of a show (at night, not matinee) that is just opening or has only been open a few weeks, a suit and tie would be my suggestion. After the original cast has been replaced and the show has been out a while, anyone can get tickets and come dressed in all sorts of tourist attire. But to be a class act, if you have the nice seats, dress like everyone will be looking at you during intermission (because they will) and they will admire you for your class. |

Of course, we even got dressed up when I was in high school at our drama state competitions! Usually a little black dress or something like it will do the trick and at least a nice shirt and tie for you. What show are you seeing? Have fun! |

I relish dressing glamorously for fine evenings of gaiety and entertainment. |

traditionally you do dress to impress when going to a broadway show. Generally speaking, as a future broadway actress, I really wouldn't care how you were dressed as long as you were there!! :) |

Jeans and a nice jacket would be great (and comfy, too) for both of you. Or she can wear a pantsuit or whatever she likes. Dressing up for broadway went out in the 60's. |

Dress casually like pants and nice shirt but you don't have to be dressy but don't show up in jeans and an old shirt. Enjoy the show! |

I don't think you need to be All dressed up. just no jeans and t-shirt. I have been there once, and ppl weren't wearing long gowns and tuxes |

If you don't, you'll be the only ones. DRESS UP! |
|

Just a friend. |
If it's a matinee then casual will be fine. Not too casual but nice. If it's an evening show, you will be under dress at casual. Try for something a bit better. |

It was thought the right thing to do many years ago, but alas, gone are the days where you have to dust off the tux etc. people go to these shows now wearing jeans and t-shirts. It shouldn't matter really however, wear what you are both comfortable with. Tell her to Leave the Tiara at home and just wear smart clothes, especially if you intend taking her for dinner afterwards!! Personally I don't feel like I have been 'out' unless I put on some heels and lipstick. It may not be the same for a man but if you both go with the same dress code you should feel at home. Hope you have a great time at the show......... what are you going to see by the way?? |

Semi-dressy, dress as if you were going to a nice restaurant. Which by the way is a good Idea to do right after the show. make sure to either reserve a table if you can, or get out of the theater quick, since most of people if not all will be going around the near by restaurants after the show. Enjoy in the city that Never sleeps. |

I would ask the lady what she is going to wear for the event and then choose my cloths with respect to her answer. If it was me, I would defenately choose to dress up! |
