It depends on what you're looking for in a hotel. Basically, a room is a room is a room there. You want to look more at what the resort has to offer in general. If you want a great spa, stay at Venetian - they have Canyon Ranch. If you want a great pool, I suggest Mandalay Bay or the Mirage. If you want lots of food options - New York New York or MGM Grand - both have many restaurants. A young, hipster party atmosphere, then you're looking at TI (Treasure Island), Caesar's, The Palms, or the Hard Rock. (The latter two are off the strip.) If you just want general opulence, then I suggest Wynn or Bellagio. If you just want a place to drop your bags, crash for a few hours, and shower, then try one of the places like Imperial Palace, O'shea's, or something like that. (There's a couple of them crammed together between across from Caesar's and Bellagio.)

I suggest you check out some of them on the internet to see which ones have the amenities you want.

Mirage is a great higher end hotel great pool. If your looking for a good bargain Excalibur is a good place pool still pretty nice and the tournament of kings show is a lot of fun.

Chirukis
I would try Excalibur... if you are on a budget. It's near everything on the best corner of the strip. There is also a 24 hour tram that runs from Excalibur to Luxor to Mandalay Bay. Ney York New York and MGM are across the street as well.

Just come back, its fantastic!

I stopped in the Bellagio, and it was brilliant!

The best hotels in my opinion to stop in would be
Bellagio, Venitian, Caesars Palace, Paris, and Mirage.
These 5 are all really nice hotels and are in the middle of the strip, which is the best location by far.

Other hotels that are really nice but in my opinion are a little 'out' are,
MGM, NYNY, Luxor, Mandalay bay, Wynn. These are all nice hotels (especially the Wynn, thats beautiful) The location is not bad, just not as good as the first 5 I mentioned.

The stratosphere is way too far out, I would avoid that one.

Other ones to stay away from are,
Frontier, Travel Lodge (THATS MEGA BAD) Riviera, Circus Circus, and sahara

The Flamingo is located well, right in the middle of the strip, its not bad, but not one of the nicer hotels.

For the price, location, and how nice it is, you cannot go wrong with the Paris, its lovely. If you are on the right side of the hotel you may also get a great view of the bellagio fountains!

the center is the best...don't go too cheap... that gold nugget is in the old Las Vegas Fremont street... MGM, new york new york, four seasons Luxor is in the south end. and that Excalibur a dirty place.I would stay at Monte Carlo, Bellagio Caesar place, or across the street at Aladdin ,Paris, Ballys ,Flamingo, Harrah's, Mirage and Treasure Island is both nice also , by staying at these you have the monorail right by the hotel a little less walking and more PARTY'N Have a great time!
Fremont st is cool too but you have to taxis to it. its in dwn town Las Vegas.

The nicest hotels are:
--The Wynn
--MGM
--The Bellagio
--The Venetian

As others have already stated it depends on how much money you are willing to spend. Most people don't want to spend more than $100 per night for a room. If you go to websites such as Vegas.com, Expedia.com, TripRes.com the BEST hotels you can get for under $100 (in my opinion of course) are:

--The Luxor
--New York, New York
--Monte Carlo
--The Palms
--Treasure Island

If money is really a problem and the pool aspect is a big part of your visit I am going to suggest the Golden Nugget. It is located just off the strip on Fremont Street. The hotel itself is average however the pool is amazing! They recently remodeled it adding an awesome waterslide that passes you through sharks and other sea creatures. Its probably the best pool in Las Vegas right now. If you book online you can probably get a room at the Golden Nugget for about $60 per night.

All the rooms are pretty much the same - very simple. They don't want you in the room, they want you to gamble. I stayed at Imperial Palace once, it's pretty much the cheapest on the strip and it's location is great, right in the middle. I don't think it matters where you stay as long as it's in the center of strip.

Chris
I have been to Vegas many, many times and whatever you do, don't try to go to cheap! You certainly get what you pay for in Vegas. The Sahara is the crappiest hotel on the strip. It's dirty and if your a young single female you are sure to get ogled by the horny old farts that work there. The rooms are filthy and the service is terrible. It's at the end of the strip and everything around there is junk. If you're trying to go at a reasonable price, look into the Flamingo! It is still a classic and it may be gone soon. The swimming pool area is excellent and best of all it's in what I along with millions of others who have stayed in Vegas call the "heart of the strip" You can get to most all the nice casinos without having a car or getting on a bus or in a cab. Ballys is not half bad either for the price but for younger people with not a lot of money you can't go wrong. You'll love the pool and the easy access to all the best places, not to mention the people watching in the shops area of Caesars Palace is the best. Good chance you'll see at least one famous person. Have a good time. Don't forget to try the rides on the top of the Statosphere.

any place around the middle of strip i think is ideal. harrah's, flamingo area. if you ask me, not alot of difference in any of them as far as rooms are concerned. you probably wont spend hardly anytime in your to begin with.

jordarian s
the plaza hotel cause when i went to las vegas thats what hotel i was staying in.i like that hotel.its a casino in there.u could go down to the casino anytime u wont and have fun.HAVE FUN!!!!

Isabella
it depends on your finance's .
if you don't' mind spending ,i recommend Stardust,if you going with children or a bunch of friend's ,and you would prefer spending the money ,in to her thing's besides lodging Circus circus is a terrific place ,you you check in they give you many freebies ,like coupon's for free brunch ,or lunch ,and many free game's ,and a gift set ,like wine goblet's ,or a bottle of champagne.
stardust ,safer for a single female ,but a little more expensive .
have a ball for me .
always remember you pay more if you stay on the strip ,there's many safe hotel's just 15 minute's from the strip ,and must cheaper.
