When our 2 boys were about this age we took them to Washington, D.C., for a week. They absolutely loved it. There is so much to do and most all of it is free. We took them to the different Smithsonian things they would be interested in, they saw money being made, the zoo where they saw the Panda's. We went to the harbor in Baltimore one day and went to the National Aquarium with a rain forest on top, saw the old battleships, took a ferry across Chesapeake Bay, the kids really enjoyed everything. It is something different than going to theme parks. We really enjoyed it as well. |

If you don't want to do Disney there's still Universal and Sea World in Orlando. Universal is running deal where kids get in free so you might want to check that out.
If you want to stay away from Orlando then I recommend, Busch Garden in Tampa, FL or Williamsburg, VA. There's also the beaches of FL (Ft. Lauderdale, Clearwater, Daytona) and SC/NC (Charleston, Myrtle Beach, and the Outer Banks). |

Go to Hot Springs,Arkansas. There is so much to do there and is so pretty. Magic Springs is there. They have an IQ zoo of trained animals doing tricks. an Alligator Farm, wax museum. hiking trails. Hot water springs. (there is a place there where people sit and put there feet in there). Hope you have a nice vacation with your kids. |

Michigan Adventure!
It's a water park and a regular park. I haven't been there in years (and when I went I was never that interested in the roller coasters or water rides), but normal kids would have a blast.
If I could show you my hand I could point it out to you, but I think it's up somewhere by the pointer or middle finger. I have no idea. |

Come to Florida. Visit the Everglades, go to the beach, go to Wannado City, go to the Keys (Key West has a pirate museum, it is old pirate country), boat rides, fishing.
There are nature parks at the Everglades and you can get an airboat ride and see wild alligators. |

Would you consider visiting historical sites? I am thinking about Williamsburg. The "city" has costumed inhabitants who talk about life in colonial Virginia. There are venues children can join in. It's not only historical and educational, it's fun!
Another place (historical in nature) would be Washington, D.C. Many venues are free- like the Jefferson Memorial, the Vietnam Memorial and the Washington Monument.
The Smithsonian Museums have all sorts of interesting things to see. The Air and Space Museum has the Gemini Capusule!
Think about it, anyway!
No rides,no costumed cartoon characters- it's your history. |

My kids are the same age. The Smithsonian in DC is wonderful. Historic Williamsburg Virginia is not too far. About 2 hours by car. Also Bush Gardens and Water Country USA is in Williamsburg. |

New York. It has the Museum of natural History, which is great for young and old. There is also the Empire State Building. There are many theme parks within driving distance in New Jersey and elsewhere (Six Flags). There is Central Park, Yankees and Mets baseball, Times Square, Statue of Liberty, Greenwich Village, Bronx Zoo, New York Aquarium, Central Park Zoo, theaters (some for kids) and much, much more. There are even helicopter tours, which are not that expensive.
Despite the fact that new York is known for high hotel rates, you can find cheap rates. If you want to go even cheaper, stay at a hotel in New Jersey and take the PATH train into New york everyday.
For specific things for children only, see the source link below. |

SeaWorld, Legoland, Wild Animal Park, the Zoo...where exactly do you want to go? Like a specific state?? You can all go to Hawaii and have fun at the beach. Kids always like the water. |

Take them to Virginia Beach. It's cheaper than the other beaches and they can play outside, where a kid can use their imagination instead of parked like a meatloaf in front of the TV set with a 300 dollar video game rotting their brains into soup. |

I just got back from a week in Branson, Missouri with three grandchildren...it was a blast, there is always something to do for the kids, a big waterpark, comedy shows, plus Silver Dollar City is a big amusement park about ten miles away. Be sure to ride the Ducks if you go. Good luck!! |
