I live in Cleveland but I want to move. Any suggestions?

I've lived in Cleveland all of my life and I've just about had enough. My fiance is a private music teacher, and I've been working in grocery for most of my life but I'm looking for something new. I'm looking for someplace new to move where she can start up her private lessons and maybe I could find a new career. Any thoughts?

I would move to the southwest, there are opportunities there, and the weather is a darn sight better.

I also have lived in Cleveland all my life and just like you am disgusted with this city.

High crime rates, poor education, and worst of all high unemployment with no good jobs, and more poverty is putting this city to the dumps. The overall look and pleasing side of the city is gone and no one comes here just to "come here."

I have recently been ever more thinking about moving out West in Wyoming. The economy and prosperity of the regions in Wyoming are growing enormously. Not only is the nature scenic, but you can get a great home and a well paying job there also. I have talked to a lady in Rock Springs Wyoming stating that a Home Depot opened there with starting cashiers making $16.50 an hour!! Thats incredible and unheard of here.

The outlook is to go to areas undeveloped and seek a home and lifestyle there. Hopefully you get a place where your fiance can teach private music.

If your not up to the challenge of moving far, Medina County is flurishing with more people than ever. Every time i go down there new houses are being built and new developments along 71 created. The economy and expansion is great down there and it escapes from the city.

Bottem line is hold down as the economy is bad now, but good luck in the future!

Try Illinois. Very peaceful there.

Or maybe somewhere south of Cleveland (but North of Columbus) if you decide to remain in Ohio.

Heard of omaha ne?? It's the black whole of the economy. Its the cheapest place to live so once you move here you'll never be able to leave, has a great music scene too. Anyhow look into it...It's not just corn and cows, trust me!!

I left northeastern Ohio (just east of Cleveland) a year ago & moved to South Carolina. I couldn't wait to get away from the brutal Ohio winters & wanted to move closer to family. There's so much growth here & it's still growing. There are a lot of jobs here in the Myrtle Beach area. Living on the outskirts of MB is the place to live. There's lots of housing available (rent/ own) & the weather is awesome. Today, it was sunny & the high was 61° & that's what winter is like here. It gets cold at night, but by noon the next day, it's so nice. Get online, look MB on the net, & if you're interested, call the Chamber of Commerce for a packet of info. Good luck!! P.S. NO SNOW HERE!!!!!!

Tampa, Florida would be a nice change. C'mon down and see if you like it. Even for a little while would be nice to get away from the snow. Because here is a tourist area there are types of jobs here that aren't there.

California! San Francisco is a great city (kinda expensive, but worth it). The Silicon Valley area is growing with lots of overachieving professionals who want music lessons for thier G&T kids, so business is good. And the weather sure beats Cleveland.

You may want to research job web sites like www.monster.com or www.jobing.com or www.careerbuilders.com and just pick some cities and/or states to get an idea of what is out there in those areas and go from there. Hope this helps and take care.

I'll offer some suggestions, but I don't think you should give up on Cleveland just yet. I personally like Cleveland, and I am optimistic about the future. It seems like if you were to go to a bigger metropolitan area your cost of living would be a lot more and a higher salary wouldn't really compensate. If you go to a smaller city, you wouldn't have the same quality amenities like the museums, sports, shopping, dining, events, etc.

I just don't see Cleveland one way. I think its fairly diverse and differs greatly from urban to suburb, west side to east side, neighborhood to neighborhood. I know you're looking for a change, but have you thought about moving within the Cleveland area. Maybe you're sick of the city and would enjoy the suburbs, or maybe if you're just sick of one side of town you could move to the other side of town. Or maybe you could move to one of the up and coming areas like Downtown, University Circle, Ohio City, Tremont and be a part of the renaissance and increasing property values. Just some things to think about.

Even though I am very happy in Cleveland, I think I would consider Washington, D.C. or Portland, OR. Both cities seem to be very interesting, modern, and all around up-and-coming. Plus, they both have great transit systems that might protect you from the effect of increasing gas prices. I just came back from a trip to Washington, and I was really impressed.
