I live in Hammond, and think that you are TOO close to where the hurricane is supposed to hit, so YES you should leave NOW!! As a matter of fact, I heard that everyone who is living south of Hwy. 22 need to evacuate NOW! |

Put it this way. Katrina was only a Cat 3. This one is a Cat 4 and expected to grow t a Cat 5 by the time it hits land.
You better be making your mind up very quick as to what you are gonna do. I would be getting the hell out of there. |

I worked with survivors of Katrina in Slidell. Get the heck out of there!! Slidell did not get much coverage in the news but it was a MESS!! Leave NOW |

No mandatory evac, eh? I heard St. Tammany Parish President Davis state earlier that all areas south of I-12 and east of I-59 were under a mandatory evacuation order. You'd better turn on some news. And get the heck out of there. |

Well consider this. You are quite close to an area that is being evacuated, take that as a hint. People think that because it doesn't say them specifically that it won't be bad for them when in reality theres a good chance they intended for people in Slidell to take the warning too. |

In my opinion, you should leave. This hurricane is predicted to be a harder hit for the North Shore than Katrina was. In Slidell they are forecasting a storm surge of up to 20 feet. I'm sure they have a mandatory evacuation by now in Slidell. Be safe. |

If you live on the North Shore you should be fine. We live in Moragn City and we are staying. We live in a brick home and have built in hurricane shudders. If you do leave, you should not have to go too far North. Good Luck. |

Evacuate for sure. You never know how the hurricane could change its path. |

Kay,
I know how hard it is to make that decision. I lived in Slidell during Katrina and yes we flooded. Everything flooded south of 12, with the exception of a few crossgates areas. I still consider getting out with my 2 kids the best decision of my life. The town was out of commission for a few weeks after with no power or water or services. Get out, you can always came back. Take care. |

Listen out and do exactly what you are told to do. Do not take any chances. Because the emergeny response teams are working 24/7, you will surely know if your area is in severe danger. Our prayers are with you --- Toni D. |

That's a tough decision. Talk with your neighbors, friends and/or family and see what they think. I wish I could be of more help, but I am safe for the most part in Detroit. Good luck! |

Depends on where you live in slidell, and where the eye of the storm will pass...there's still time for you to figure it out. |
