I need to know things about Disney World!?

I need to know everything! I really want to know! I want to ride the rides, from Dumbo to Tower of Terror! I want to see the characters, everything! Also, do you know anything about the hotel prices, or the park hours? What rides are really long waits that you should do earlier in the day? Any must-sees? By the way- that is Disney WORLD not Disney LAND. (Disney world is inFlorida)

What a great question!

A lot of people go down to Disney World completely unprepared. I have been there 17 times in the last 13 years, because that is how old I am, so I couldn't have gone much more. I love Disney World and think of it as my home. I go at least once every school if not more.

What I normally do first with my family is to figure out when I am going and where I am staying. I would highly suggest staying on Disney Property. Below is a list of the resorts on disney property.

ON PROPERTY DISNEY WORLD RESORTS:
Value Disney World Hotels:
All-Star Movies
All-Star Music
All-Star Sports
Pop Century Resort
Animal Kingdom Lodge
Beach Club Resort
Boardwalk Inn
Contemporary Resort
Grand Floridian Resort
Polynesian Resort
Swan & Dolphin (not Disney owned)
Wilderness Lodge
Yacht Club Resort
Caribbean Beach
Coronado Springs
Port Orleans Riverside
Port Orleans French Quarter
Animal Kingdom Lodge Villas
Beach Club Villas
Boardwalk Villas
Old Key West Resort
Wilderness Lodge Villas
Saratoga Springs Resort & Spa
Fort Wilderness Resort & Campground

I myself normally stay at Old Key West resort which is modeled after Key West, Florida. I also love Animal Kingdom Lodge, which has its own little Plains in Africa. With real animals and a lot of culture, this is one of the really great resorts. Some of the resorts are expensive. This is why I really like Old Key West resort. It is not all that expensive and it is one of the most cosy resorts. It mostly depends on how many people are going. If not many are in your party (1-3) I would suggest a studio room. If you have a moderate party (2-5) I would suggest a one bedroom room. If you have a large party (3-6) I would suggest a two bedroom room. Now if you have a very large party (1-10) the best thing to do is get a three room room. Now the three room gets to be very expensive, but works best if you have a very large party. Now one person could stay in any of the rooms, but if you are going by your self, get a studio or 1 bedroom. At Old Key West, if you have a studio, you get a small kitchen with a microwave, toaster, mini fridge, and coffee maker. A small bathroom with a tub/shower, sink, and toilet. And a bedroom/living room with a bed, couch/pullout bed, desk, and a couple chairs. A one bedroom includes a bedroom( king size bed, chair, Tv), double bathroom(one with a toilet, shower, and sink, and the other with a sink and bathtub), a living room/kitchen(full kitchen with a full size fridge/freezer, sink, dishwasher, island coutertop, and full set of dishes perfect for cooking al most any thing, and a living room with a couch/pullout bed, chair) and normally a balcony or deck with a set of plastic furniture. I have not stayed in a two bedroom or three bedroom, but they are both very spacy.

After we have figured out where we are staying, we figure out where we are eating. Picking out your places to eat is one of the most important things. You can almost never get into a sitdown Restaurant without a reservation. My suggestion is to have one sit-down meal and one counter-service meal a day. This works best as sit-down meals can be expensive. All of the food at Disney World is fantastic! I can't give a higher review of food anywhere. A list of all the places you can go to eat is below.

Indiana Jones
gosh you are asking alot and not being extremely specific.
ok lets start off with things i can say with certainty.
hotel prices:
-value resorts=start at $82 per night
-moderate resorts=start at $149 per night
-dexluxe resorts=start at $225 per night.
-disney villas=start at $265 per night
here you can check out all reorts on disney worlds website
http://disneyworld.disney.go.com/wdw/resorts/resortOverview?id=ResortOverviewPage

park hours:
-park hours vary from day to day and you can see all park hours for all parks on the disney world website as well.
here is the link to the calendar just select the park and month you are going and it will give you the park hours.
http://disneyworld.disney.go.com/wdw/calendar/parkhours/calendarHome?id=MKCalendarParkHoursMonthlyViewPage

must see:
-well i'd say every thing is a must see at magic kingdom, epcot, and hollywood studios. and while it sounds like my opinion won't make a difference i suggest skipping animal kingdom. its not worth the time or money and its realy not up to disney's standards if you ask me. the "famed" expedition everest is overated and really not that great.
and its basically like a zoo with a few attractions.
-i can give you the things that are always at the top of my list for must sees:
magic kingdom:
*carousel of progress
*space mountain
*slash mountain
*thunder mountain
*enchanted tiki room
*haunted mansion
*its a small world
*pirates of the caribbean
*tomorrowland transit authority
*wishes fireworks.
epcot:
*test track
*mission space
*soarin
*imagination with figment
*norway boat ride
*mexico boat ride
*fireworks illuminations reflections of earth
hollywood studios:
*tower of terror
*rock n rollercoaster starring aerosmith
*beauty and the beast
*sounds dangerous with drew carey
*back lot tour
*muppet vision 3d
*the great movie ride
but like i said those are just my personal favorites.

rides to get there early:
magic kingdom:
-pretty much all of the rides in fantasyland such as
peter pans flight
dumbo
tea cups
its a small world
snow white
winnie the pooh
-personally i like to get to the park when it opens and head right for fantasyland and get on those rides first.

epcot:
soarin

hollywood studios:
tower of terror
rock n rollercoaster

rides to get fast pass for:
magic kingdom:
space mountain
splash mountain
thunder mountain

epcot:
mission space
test track
soarin i would really just suggest getting to when the park opens cuz the fast passes run out very early in the day.

hollywood studios:
tower of terror
rock n rollercoaster
i strongly suggest you get there early and go on them and also get a fast pass after you do them once so you can come back when the lines are longer and just be able to hop on.

just let me know if i can help with anything else.

Hi! Ok, I'm going to give you a few tips about Disney that you should consider and know!

Hotel: I would stay at Disney's Port Orleans, Riverside. It's one of their moderate resorts so it's not too expensive but still really nice. The atmosphere is beautiful! They have multiple pools, a huge dining hall where you can eat breakfast, lunch and dinner if you choose too. Also, the have a bar, a restaurant, lobby and a really cute gift shop! You definitely do not want to spend alot of money on your hotel especially when your spending the majority of time at the parks.

Parks: Vist all 4 parks! Get park hopper passes! So completely worth it and stay for no less than 4 days; you'll get your moneys worth of it!

*Magic Kingdom: Go on every ride! The list is too long to type ever ride!
*Epcot: They only have a few rides but the main attraction are the countries so spend time going through each country and enjoy them!
*Hollywood Studios: Go on every ride, especially Tower of Terror (best ride ever!)
*Animal Kingdom: Love Animal Kingdom! Try and go on every ride as well!

Your spending a lot of money, so make the trip worth wild and try to go on every ride!

*Drink a lot of water and not soda
*Spend money wisely
*Bring meds because your feet will hurt
*Wear comfortable clothing
*Sunglasses
*Camera
*Sunscreen
*Cell phone
* Take advange of Extra (morning) magic hours. The extra evening hours arnt worth it, it can be 12 or 1am and that one park will be completely packed and you will still have to wait an hour for some rides

Just have fun!

Ok... you sure do have a ton of questions... Is there your first time there? You will have an awesome time!

We'll start with the characters because that will be quick and easy. It used to be that the characters would walk around the park and sign autographs. They don't do that anymore. There are designated spots and times that the characters are out. You should be able to get the information when you enter the park. Mickey Mouse is always in the Judge's tent in Toontown at Magic Kingdom. There is also a spot in Epcot that you have to be a Disney Visa Card holder to enter.

The cheapest hotels are the Value Resorts. During the value seasons the value resorts start at $82 a night. Rooms range from no frills to extravagant and can easily cost $400+ a night during the holiday seasons.

Park hours, like hotel rates, vary with the seasons. The easiest thing to do is check http://disneyworld.disney.go.com/wdw/calendar/parkhours/calendarHome?id=MKCalendarParkHoursMonthlyViewPage you are able to change the park and the month to see what the hours will be. The furthest date out is in April '09 so if you are planning a trip after that you'll have to wait until they update. I'm waiting for May, myself.

The longest rides are likely to be the ones that have the FastPass available. The FastPass is great, just stick your ticket in the machine, grab your ticket and the little ticket that tells you when to return to the ride. You can return during that time, and virtually skip all of the waiting. Some of the most popular rides you will encounter though, is Splash Mountain, Space Mountain, Soarin', Test Track, Tower of Terror, Rock'n RollerCoaster, Expedition:Everest and so on.

I absolutely recommend taking at least a day to hotel hop and wander around the Disney property. Some of the hotels are truly unique, like the Polynesian and the Grand Floridian. There is also mini-golf courses, water parks, Disney Quest and Downtown Disney which offers tons of shopping.

If you have any other questions please feel free to email. This was a very broad question. But for more information you can refer to http://www.allears.net That site will provide tons of information on dining, parks, resorts etc.

Why not check out their website?

:)
Disneyworld is magical! There's 4 great parks: Epcot, Hollywood Studios, Animal Kingdom, and of course the Magic Kingdom. In between there is Downtown Disney, the Boardwalk, Water Parks, Shopping, Restaurants, Relaxing, and Fun, Fun, Fun.
I suggest purchasing a Disneyworld package that includes:
- if low on $$ choose a Value Resort (Pop Century Resort!)
- park hopper tickets so you can visit a 4 parks as you wish
- Disney's basic dining plan
- Disney's magical express, which is transportation to and from the Orlando airport
- then your airfare
There are many choices and options for a perfect WDW vacation package, but don't go during the summer time- huge crowds and really hot -

Get the Unofficial Guide to Disney World, no matter what you will have a good time, I have been over 10 times and I still enjoy it more and more each time.

Talk about a broad question! I would highly recommend a guidebook and also http://www.allearsnet.com to get you started. They have all the rides at each park listed, as well as menus of all the restaurants with prices.

You can pick up a Times Guide at each park which will show you special appearances scheduled for that day, such as characters. You can also ask at City Hall or other Guest Services locations at each park.

Park hours change and are posted on Disney's website. You can also use their vacation builder there to see the hotel prices at the time of year you are going. Disney has different levels of hotels, so you can spend a lot or spend a little.

Also be sure to read about the Fastpass system, which will help you skip long lines.

There are four different parks, so you need to decide if you will be going to all of them or just some of them - I would look at the attractions each park has to help you decide.

pink
The hotel prices range drastically. Disney seperates there three types of hotels into a deluxe, moderate and value category. They range from $400-$82 dollars a night and it depends what type of room you want and what time of year you stay.

Rides with the longest waits are Space Mountain, Splash Mountain, Big Thunder Mountain Railroad, Tower of Terror, Rock N Roller Coaster, Toy Story Mania, Expedition Everest, Dinosaur, Kilmanjaro Safaris, Soarin and Test Track.

Almost everything is a must see. The only thing I don't recommend is the Backlot Tour at MGM or Hollywoow Studios now. It's not what it used to be and it's a waste of time.

Any other planning or just regular trivia question you had you can go to intercot.com and ask anything and it will be answered as quickly as possible.

Go to allears.net for all the information you need to know. Menus to most restaurants are also included on this website. It will help you decide where you'd like to eat so that you can make all your advance dining reservations at each park.

That is a huge question! I think it would take me several months to explain all there is to do at Disney World. Besides the Unofficial Guide, I also like the Guide to Disney Ebooks for discounts. Here is this link - http://www.guide2disney.com.

Big fan of Tower - look for Allison while you are there! :)

Jordyn M
Disney world is like disneyland, minus a few rides. the rides with the longer waiting time will be the new rides and the rollercoastes. For prices go to there website, disney.com and click on travel.
