oh if only about a million other people would change their driving habits alot of people drive because they are addicted to convenience i am 72 years old and in my day we had a car but we used it for essentials otherwise we took public transportation which incidentally is very cheap. a person can take the red line to la take the blue line to long beach which lets you off right at the water for three bucks no parking no hassle and you are helping the traffic congestion which is awful at all times of the day any day

Yes you are! I try to do my bit, too, and although I have to drive, I have a super hybrid that gets 57.1 mpg (a Honda Insight). It feels good to be helping, doesn't it?

Good for you!

I commend your noble cause, but in the end, you're just screwing yourself over. Your contribution will do nothing but torture you. You don't have to be SO extreme. Get a hybrid or an electric car or whatever's best for the environment, move closer to work, etc. But condemning yourself from ever driving because you think you'll make some mark on the environment is rather naive. No offense. Yes, it takes one person to spark a revolution, but sir, you're not that person. Again, no offense. It's just that we Los Angelenos need our damn cars or else we'd all probably end up jumping off the local Sears or Home Depot building.. whichever's closer.

Yes. Absolutely. Don't listen to anyone else who says the contrary. If only millions more were like you.

Yes of course it's helping the environment, and if you bike around or walk you are helping yourself stay healthy. More people should be like you, I would do the same but i live in a rural place where its a 15 minute drive to get to my school, it sucks but I try to make up for it in other ways.

Yeah your helping the environment because if you dont polute the air that is one less person that is & if everyone gets the message to walk when you don't need to our world would be a better place. Also when you walk it would be better for your personal health because you are burning calories and helping the enviornment. So it is good.

If it makes you "feel" good to think so then I'm happy for you. Actually, you're not. Unless you are a complete recluse that never leaves your home you will be using some form of transportation. Unless you walk or ride a bicycle EVERYWHERE you go your traveling will always create some degree of pollution.

"Emo" is correct. Environmentalism has changed from a pseudo-science to a near religion. The earth is 4 1/2 billion years old . It has gone through many periods of warming and cooling. It's normal. Even the polarity of the poles has changed several times. The volcano eruptions of Mt. Pinatubo, and Krakatoa spewed billions of tons of particulate into the air, but the Earth always has a way of cleansing itself. The activities of mankind in relation to Earth time would be like looking at only one grain of sand on the beach.
