Lived in Florida my whole life and love it. But I'm kinda biased.
I love how tropical it is, even though in the summer its a killer. Plan inside activies, vacations, or beach and pool days in the summer. In the winter I sometimes want snow but if you dislike snow, it's perfect here, cool comfortable weather...it's gorgeous. Do you want to live near the beach? If so, hurricanes are a risk there. Here in central Florida, not as much as the coast but still scary sometimes. There are so many different parts of Florida. There's the coast, the city, the suburbs, etc.
Celebration, Florida is really nice.
New england style homes and palm trees and a downtown area with shops and a movie theatre and hotel. Right around the corner from Disney World, Pleasure Island, Downtown Disney, etc.
Hope I helped with your decision and gave you places to research.

Go visit first and see if you like it.

ShouldBeWorking
It depends. You'll need to be okay with the humidity and the storms. Also, it's a very different lifestyle down there as well. I tihnk you should probably try to go there for a little while before you move forever.

I used to live in FL. My foot was cut I think on a jellyfish?, I had the best tan of my life, and were I lived there were lemons the size of grapefruits, and the first time I saw that coconuts look different when they grow on the trees!
Homeowners insurance!!!!! good luck with your choice!

im a florida citizen, and look hurricanes are only temporary and we fix the major problems in 1 to 2 weeks. The only bad thing is that it's ht down here. you'll soon waste a bundle on air conditioning. trust me.

All I have to say on that subject is... Don't do it!

If you are set on moving to Florida, I would move to Southeast Florida. Palm Beach, Broward, or Dade counties.

It is sunny some of the time, but it also rains a lot. Its very hot and humid. Prices are very high for just about everything, but there is no state income tax.

I would avoid the Tampa Bay area, there is nothing but traffic, rude people, and general lack of things to do there.

I have been to Tampa, and LOVED IT

Check out the link below, and good luck!!

I've lived in Florida for 25 years and have always loved it, until now. The hurricanes have made it impossible to afford a home due to home owners insurance going sky high. Mine jumped from 1700.00 a year to 3300.00 a year. Plus taxes have gone up, real estate has gone through the roof. The wages in Florida are lower than alot of other places. It used to be affordable, but not anymore. As soon as my daughter graduates next year, I'm moving out of here!! Not to mention all of the Cuban imigrants who refuse to learn how to speak english!! Going to Miami is like going to another country!! I

I don't live in Florida but I did live 22 miles from the Flordia boarder. Let me tell you it is not only sunny. It is hot as hell and very humid. If you are a heavy sweater the day time will be miserable. There are hurricanes and stomes too but you can do upgrades to your home to help and also get good insurance.

my parents had a place in Fla for 13 yrs...in a little section called Lake and Meadows just outside of Citra...Stunningly beautiful and enough inland to only get rain during the hurricanes and still only about an hour from either the ocean or the gulf,,,if you are serious about the move, take the time to go visit this area...it is a beautiful state and we met wonderful people there...something about people who get to see the sun,,,they smile a lot..hahahaha...good luck ...........

If you move to florida then you pay extra for things like gas because of all the hurricanes. It depends where you want to move. The Keys are beautiful but expensive. Much of the east coast of Florida (say Daytona Beach) is cheap but trashy, dirty, and full of hookers. Look for smaller towns near that area such as Ponce Inlet and Daytona Beach Shores that are on the east coast but cost more than less nicer towns. Much of Florida right now is going through recunstruction so there is lots of noise not to mention ambulance sirens that you hear a few times an hour because so many elderly inhabit Florida. I suggest that you stay at a hotel around the town where you want to live to check it out for yourself. Look around, if you are older go for a condo because you dont have to mow your lawn or hire pest services (a monthly service that can get costly). Good luck!

if you move to miami you will have pretty good weather all year...but you have to think about the hurricanes...its a chance you have to take...my family lives near miami...they live in a stucco house and have awnings that will let down over their windows...so if they know a storm is coming they get ready and secure the place...but what if that doesn't work?? the place gets destroyed?? yes, insurance will replace some things...but what about your memories...pics, etc...

Ok I live in West Palm Beach and have lived in the Keys and Miami. A lot of it does look just like the magazines, and that's what makes it worth all the hard work and expense it takes to live here. If you have a lot of money no problem. If you are on a budget don't start by living in a motel, unless for a couple nights. They are real expensive here in S FL, better in Orlando. Try to find a place to rent by the month, an efficiency or studio, or perhaps a room with friends. As for jobs they are everywhere down here if you can handle tourists. Restaurants are always hiring and so are places like Office Depot, Auto Parts stores, Elderly Care facilities, (old people are big business down here). It depends on what you want to do. Keep your expenses down and don't get trapped running on the hamster wheel of busting your a-- working to pay for all the stuff you buy. Then you have time to enjoy FL. Lots of places to go and things to do. My b/f and I like to go to Orlando every other month or so just to play like little kids. Its cool and way fun, and romantic. So are the Keys. Good luck!

I wanna move away from Florida! There is no snow here, and yes it gets down to the teens in the winter. I would rather have four seasons, like the upstate NY area.(finger lakes) or PA.
