Well first of all, New England is very Liberal. If that's not a problem for you then enjoy.
New England is beautiful.
Maine is very beautiful.
New Hampshire has no state tax.
Vermont has some of the lest strict gun control laws in the country. And as a result, one of the lowest crime rates.
Connecticut was also very nice. |

First you need to ask yourself, do I want to live north or south or do I want 4 seasons?? If you are looking to move northeast, are you looking for city or country life? We all know the big apple is just a train ride from any country setting, so you could have the best of both worlds. I moved from the south to the northeast in 1995 and I have to say I was a bit sceptical at first. In fact my first summer here we had a really rough heat wave and just a few months out during winter we had the Blizzard of 1996, WOW was I ready to leave!! But after living here for many years now, New York and Connecticut are by far two of the most beautiful states I have lived in. Connecticut is a post card in the fall and New York is lovely all year long. The communities are diverse and dripping with many different cultures. There is always something going on in one town or another and once you get used to the "yankee" attitude, you will realize they are just as nice as any southerner.....just a little different in the dialect. I hope I helped you out a little............ :) |

Where you should live has everything to do with who you are. If you enjoy the city life then I suggest Mass. But if you are a subards/nature lover I suggest Maine, NH,and VT. However be aware that the cost of living in New England can be as high as California. So if Money is not a concern of yours than I say, enjoy the four seasons, and great seafood. |

Both Connecticut, where I grew up, and Maine are just gorgeous. For a state not on the water, Vermont is beautiful too. |

i think that u should move 2 california. california is the best. over here is like the best weather ever its always sunny and its not the type of heat where u r like dying. plus we have alot of cool things 2 do over here like disneyland california adventures 6 flags hollywood universal studios. plus since the weathers always nice u can always go down 2 the beach. my vote is california |

I wouldn't advise it. I found it too conservative, dull and at the same time terribly pretentious and twee. |

If you want to live near the water, go to Portland, Maine. Great salt water fishing |

I grew up in Rhode Island, and my parents now live in New Hampshire. I no longer live there, but I have spent a lot of time all over New England. My favorite spot (if I had to pick one) is Portland, ME. You will have all the conveniences of living in a small city, but it still has all the comfort and quaintness of a small town. You will be close to the mountains, the lakes, as well as the ocean. Portland has the greatest Children's Museum I've ever been to. It also has a great art museum as well. Awesome restaurants, antique stores, entertainment of every kind. I don't know what else you could ask for. |

It's so cold in New England. If I were you, I'd go a little more south! Like maybe one of the Carolinas or Georgia. |

If you're young, go to Boston. There's A LOT of young people there. If you're older and want to become part of a community, move to Rhode Island. People are very friendly and proud of their state, and there is a lot of community involvement. Same is true of Portland, Maine. If you're a loner, consider the mountains of New Hampshire or Vermont. They're really pretty, but isolated. Ideal is to live in a city and take weekends to go up to the mountains or to the beach. |

New England is great. Find a university town if you can.
If you like the city, try a place like Boston. If you like places that are a little quieter, you could try western Massachusetts, Vermont or New Hampshire (Green Mountains and White Mountains). If you like the ocean, try Portland, Maine, or Rhode Island. If you really want to get away from everything, northern Maine. |
