Eighteen Mile Island is situated eighteen miles north of 4th Street in Louisville, Ky on the right channel of the Ohio River closest to the Indiana Shore.
It is privately owned and is used to graze cattle in the fall and spring, but in winter and summer is deserted. It is comparatively safe except for overnight occasional campers and stray fishermen.
I have stayed on it and had no problem. On the weekends and holidays lots of pleasure craft tie up close to it for swimming, and picnicking.
There are also 12 mile Island, and 6 mile Island. All are deserted, but 18 is least likely to be occupied as it is further from most marinas, and boat gas is over $5 a gallon.

A desserted island? An island with lots of sweets, then.

If you mean deserted, try going to the Caribbean. There are hundreds of tiny islands out there with no life except for the plam trees and the occassional crab.

You might want to inform somebody, or leave a note. People will be worried otherwise.

You want to go to an island but don't want to fly????? What do you want...a cruise??? if you resort to flying, there are some great little cay islands off the coast of Belize.

Patti, sorry for the corrections, it's the teacher in me. Desserted (dessert is something you eat after a meal). Anyway, to answer your question, I'd have to say somewhere in the South Pacific. Btw, if you're gonna go to a deserted island, why would you need hygiene supplies? You'd be alone. So who would care what you look, smell... like? I hope this answered your question. Hope you can find one and go---HAVE FUN!!!
