I would like to live in USA?

Hi everyone, I am 18 year old female from Germany. I am currently living in UK and studie as well. It has always been my dream to live in USA especially in LA, Beverly hill or California. Now before I want to move there I want to have a good Education in order for me to have a good job over there as I have heard that there are no benefits or other income support like in UK. What I wanted to ask is when I move to USA, will I have any problems of living there, because I am German citizen and will I need any Visa to live there permanently? If I move there with my partner and he is English will that be any problem for both of us to live there or anything? Will it be easy for me to find a good job in USA with 3 Languages qualification, Business studies Certificate and 2 different ICT qualifications and I am currently studying to get a Degree in Business and German. Please I need some advice, I am sorry about my English hope you can read and understand it.

Thanks God bless you

Assuming you do not want to be in the US illegally and want to be able to work, you will need a visa. If you can get a job that will give you an H1 visa, that would be great. Otherwise, you will be able to come as a visitor but not allowed to work.

Grant Ray came on 12/8/08!

You actually have better english than a lot of the people on here. With all of the certifications that you have, you shouldn't have any problems getting and keeping a very good job here.

satacelda
well, as long as you are going to be a productive part of society and not ask for free handouts, welcome!

mighty_power7
your english is fine :)

depending on the job you get, there are usually benefits like health and dental. so you will get a little help with that. california is also a VERY expensive place to live, especially the los angeles/beverly hills area. you might want to try living someplace else in the u.s. first, and if that works out ok for you, then move to california.

The best place to find answers to your questions would be here:
http://www.usembassy.org.uk/cons_new/visa/index.html

Like most countries, it is not as simple as showing up in the US and applying for a job. You would first need to apply for a visa. Since you are a student, you could attend university in the US. That would be one way to apply for a visa. If you want employment in the US the easiest route would be to try to get a job with a multinational company that has a presence in the US and get transferred. If you apply to work in the US, the company that employs you must not be able to find an American to fill the position. Most countries have rules similar to this. Moving to the US permanently is not an inexpensive proposition. Begin your research at the US Embassy website. Good luck! I hope it works out for you.

(:
Your English is very good, I can understand it fine!

Yes you will need a visa unless you do decide to become an American Citizen.

America is great, don't listen to anyone that tells you otherwise. :)

Wow you have a lot of qulaifications. My opinion: STAY IN EUROPE. American is in a decline right now. And now A lot of Americans are moving to Europe... Try to use all of your skills in England, Germany, France, etc.

Gruß dich!

As the others said, your english is just fine. As for other terms, I'm not sure about you needing a visa, but you have to go to certain tests to become an actual U.S. citizen, from what I know a Visa is just to get you to visit the location and stay there for 6 months (This only is known for California, probably U.S., but don't know about the other countries.)

Another term, you might not want to move to Beverly Hills or Los Angeles, as what one said up there, the rents are extremely high, even from small houses, especially in those two areas. Unless, you decided to go to a college/university and see if you can rent and live in the dorms.

As for language problems, you'll be fine, since your english is really decent and can be understood, I can understand every single word that you said. If you know 3 languages, your job variety may open up since, you can translate. The more languages you know, the better you can get a job.

I hope this helps.

But in my suggestion, it is better to stay in the UK, since it isn't going through as much trouble as the U.S. right now, with all the war in Iraq and all.

joncollins222
you can go far if you know three languages companys love that maybe some kind of international relations job for a big company

...
U.S.A. would be a good place to live..but why L.A. Area? it's really really crowded i would recommend you living somewhere lke Texas! there's a lot of Land yet people and it's not too over crowded. Also, Texas is way cheaper than California! but Good luck

You could apply to be a resident alien, both you and your partner.Idk anything about visas, sorry.
but i do know lots of stuff about the States.Yes, knowing three languages is a good thing and it should get you a good job.and no things like healthcare aren't provided by the government unless you are in the military so you will just have to be careful and not slip on a patch of ice and break your leg like my algebra teacher did.
Your english is very good and America is just plain awesome so good choice coming here.I hope I helped you out a bit.

When your in college get an F1 student visa go to college in Cali your goal is to get sponsonred by one of the companies so you can live here forever

Zincous
Your english is very good, no problems understanding it. All those qualifications sound good enough to easily get a job. Im not sure on the visa thing, becoming an american citzen will solve those problems though.

There is nothing wrong with your English. Please ignore the person who said the Adolph Hitler comment. Believe me we're not all like that. I knew a foreign exchange student from Germany and he preferred Germany to America although he did say that Americans were very friendly. I do not recommend moving to America but if you do I suggest not starting out in California. The cost of living is very high along with taxes.

Dipzee
If you are still in school maybe you could find an exchange program, or maybe you could get a work visa to come over here. I think that California especially where you mentioned would be a bit of a culture shock for you, and it is very very expensive to live there. I would make a list of what it is you want from living in America and then try to find a place that matches it. I wouldn't pick based on what you've seen on TV or read about. I think that with the language and ICT qualifications you should be able to find a job. And like the person above said your english is better that alot of people's here.

YeAH! Come to here to the US, but it is very crazy right now. We are at war, gas prices are high as the mess, our country is declining. Anyway, I plan on going to the UK or the Netherlands when I graduate high school. I am so ready to leave south carolina! Wow you have 3 language qualifications, American Business companies love multilingualism. GOOD LUCK!!!
