Have an open opportunity to move to any of the following and would like some feedback. I lived in Dallas for 25 years and it is home but don't miss the traffic and drive to work.
WIll be working in the IT field
Thanks,

Thanks for all the input so far. Moving back to Texas would ease some family situations. I don't yet have a job but work in Information Technology for 15 years. When I left Dallas in 2002 there were no jobs...in the years prior headhunters were beating down the door so I'm a little nervous how things are now. BTW Austin is an option as well.

Houston!

I love Houston. It's an always changing city. It's the city of oppurtunity. It's awesome. It's the largest in Texas, and people generally think Houstonians are friendly and great. I live hear and I know that. Traffic is something you'll see in all cities, so that's not a really pull-down here, than it is in other cities. The humidity is kinda bad, but you could stay indoors or find some way to cool down outside.

We got lots of tech companies in Houston, and it's constantly growing with the energy field. Many engineers come here, so it must mean something. Housing is very affordable here. We've got great shopping like the Galleria, The Woodlands, and the many malls here. On a weekend, you can relax and go to Galveston for going to the beach, or Kemah Boardwalk in Kemah, both aren't far away from Houston. It's one of the most undiscovered cities in America, but it's really something. It's really nice if you get to know it.

Try it!

Houston! More trees!

DWF would seem to be your worst answer. I was there once and I just can't imagine being in that traffic on a daily basis. Although I must say I have never been to either of the other cities, I think if I had to pick based on what I know of them I would pick Houston. Good Luck to you in whatever you decide.

Man of Gold
Dude, go to Austin, San Antonio or Dallas. Austin is the best city in Texas to me.

Houston is way too boring and too spread out to really enjoy it. Houston is too much of an indoor city.

I see that the people who recommended cities outside of Houston received low ratings..........................but they're right though.

SweetnSpiceyBrown
I've lived in both Dallas and Houston and although the traffic is a lot worst in Houston, Houston is a less conservative city than Dallas. I believe you would enjoy the City of Houston more if you are single and want to have some fun!

all citys good

and houston isnt as much indoor as nyc or north

is mr fat *** says that cause he dosent like to go out side

i preffer the dallas metro area or the houston metro area though san antonio

nice and austin isnt all that like that idot said first

i personally wish austin was a little more addvance

I would pick Dallas. The traffic is not bad if you live close to where you work. I work downtown and live in Lakewood (East Dallas). My commute is less than 15 minutes and I never get on a freeway (very stress-free commuting). Plus, everything I need is just minutes away from where I live & work - shopping, entertainment, friends, etc. In the last 25 years, the DART Transit system has expanded. The rail system is really great. I know people that use it daily and their commute from the suburbs to downtown is less than 1/2 hour and all they do is read the newspaper. Houston and Brownsville are nice to visit, but too humid for me!

I totally agree with Steven B. I've been to all these cities and Dallas is the best of all of them in every aspect.

if you can speak Spanish well, you should totally move to Brownsville! it's really nice weather there all year and SPI rocks. very tropical beaches! I love it there! I am hopefully moving to Port Isabel in the next year

Brownsville, because I found 8 cartloads of Mexican gold when I lived there but didn't realize what it was until three yrs., ago...and it is still there...........

G.C.
Dallas...more metropolitan than the others...and a liberal blue oasis...in the midst of a conservative red state.

Houston and Brownsville seems to be dirty...and English is not the official language.

Brownsville: No longer a part of the U.S., so don't even bother.

Houston: Vast ghetto with no zoning whatsoever. Also soon to loose status as an American city. Very, very blue-collar--but in fairness, there are some nice areas (lived there off and on since 1983)

DFW: Upscale, white-collar city. Minimal ghetto influence but it's still present. Dallas seems to be struggling with trying to remain a pretty city with lots of open green spaces, or turning into an all-concrete urban ant hill like NYC. Compared to Houston, things in DFW are newer, cleaner, better organized, well-zoned, and still predominantly English-speaking.

You choose.

I WOULD STAY IN THE DALLAS FORT WORTH AREA........OR IN A TOWN CLOSE BY TO YOUR JOB.

TOO MUCH TRAFFIC IN HOUSTON AND HUMIDITY.

BROWNSVILLE.............................. WOULDN'T.

DAB
Screw them all, move to Austin. :D

Muppet
I agree with Dab, move to Austin!

Since that's not a choice, I'd pick Dallas. Houston has a lot worse traffic than Dallas and it's a lot larger and more spread out.
Brownsville has a lack of travel options. Flying out of the airport is expensive.

bibi907
Brownsville! I lived there for 2 yrs, visited at least once a year for last 15 yrs. Love that place, cheap, friendly people, good food, love the beaches and fishing.
