people have a fear 0f the unknown. try your best to be positive and keep an open mind. talk with your parents about your fear they may be able to help you relax alittle. will be thinking of you. try to enjoy

i used to love flying, until the trip from tokyo to detroit, in 2004. i had such frightful landing (4 unsuccessful & harrowing attempts) that i swear off flying for good.
the 24 hours' flight back to singapore was such terrible feeling, i had to swallow 2 sleeping pills, to knock myself out before the plane takes off.
however, its a big big world. there are many interesting places to see & experience. i can't sit here & watch on the tv programmes about the different countries & cultures.
so, i read on many articles on this phobia. it gives consolation, but you still have to take the leap of faith. i take my time & refuse to watch programmes on plane crashes. i have to take my mind off the negative aspects of flying. i have to endlessly remind myself. i had to overcome it.
so, earlier this year, i decided to try again, planning on a short trip. i flew to hong kong. it's 3.5 hours' flight.
it was tough when it takes off...i hate the feeling...i'm sure you know what i mean. my friend's hand was so bruised :p
when i returned from hong kong, i have to go through that same emotional upheaval. that night before the flight, i had insomnia. again.
well, i made it through safely back.
i still dislike the feeling of flying, but i think i can do it. its such an unpleasant feelings, & i wouldn't take the plane ,unless neccesary.
no matter how much you hate it, i think we have to take small steps 1st, @ your own pace. good luck!
i will consider hypnotism soon.

Don't be. Do you know the chances of crashing???.... Well I dont' but if you find out tell me!

I found it scary the first time I left the ground in one. It was strange--thousands of pounds of metal lifting up and floating in the air, and it felt unstable with no ground underneath. Once I got used to it (once we were in the air and leveled off), it was nothing. Air travel is safe. If you are scared, just close your eyes and listen to loud music (if allowed).

You would have a much greater chance of a fatal crash if you drove wherever you are going.

I flew in a small one once at this camp thing when I was about eight. It wasn't very scary, but after seeing Lost I won't fly in a big plane!

Airplanes are safer than cars most people find the experience very enjoyable

Honey83
You're not the first person who feels this way, a lot of people are scared to fly.

miss_magic047
Well its natural, and about crashing I will say that if you are meant to live you will live and if you are...
But a positive attitude is always good because life is too short.

vickeymcgee
Actually, I really don't like to fly either, but I have found that when I do I try to take a nap or get into a really good book. Keep your mind busy and the time will "fly" by.

There are fewer airplane crashes than car crashes. When I flew for the first time I got a window seat and looked out. It is beautiful looking at the land below. Just chew a stick of gum it will help get your ears from popping and don't worry your safer up there than we are down here. Have fun.

its not scary. you'll probably fall asleep and miss it anyway

Tony
flying in a plane is safer than riding in a car.

Relax and you will be fine. It has happens to me, everybody goes through this. Even it's their first time on a plane. Nothing will happen and say a prayer on the plane.

Listen, I remember my first time flying, I was 8 years old and petrified. My parents soothed me and as liftoff began I realized it was one of the best experiences of my life. It was awesome, nothing scary about it at all once you take off. its great. the view of all the little ant people under you. amazing. utterly amazing.
