first u should leave late in the day - he or she will prolly then sleep most of the trip. and for the time they are awake if u could afford one get a mini dvd player, or a vtech travel system, even a coloring book with crayons would be helpful in a long trip and that very inexpensive $2 in the dollar store! Also brings lots of snacks!
just wanted to add u should definitely go strait thru, no stopping for hours it will only prolong ur trip which could make ur son or daughter very frustrated!! They will not want to get back into the car knowing they have many more hours to go after playing in a playground! |

put in a head rest dvd player and take movies
coloring books and crayons
handheld video games
if all else fails, give him a sleeping pill and he'll sleep the whole way there. |

I was in the military and i had to move across country, TWICE in less than one year (from ohio to california and then from california to virginia)and at the time, my son was two years old.
The BEST thing that we found to help the excessively long days was a portable dvd player (since i didn't have an automobile with one built in). We bought educational videos to watch along the way, so that he would learn something as well! You can get a portable dvd player from wal-mart for less than $100.
My son also has a leapster (he didn't have one at the time because he was too little) but he is 4 years old now, and thats another great way to keep him pre-occupied and learning too!
My one piece of advice with taking a young one on a long car ride is to take about and hour or two every day that you drive, to let them get out and do something. Go to McDonalds with playland and just let him go wild! That way it will get all of his pent up energy out, and possibly wear him out enough to take a nap for you!
Good luck and have fun! |

First of all why do you want to drive for so long when you have a infant with you? Anyway bring lots of toys for him to play with in the car. Try to get some paper and crayons for him to draw. get some picture books for him to look at. Also if possible get a portable dvd palyer and some children movies for him to watch. Try to get someone to accompany him on the drive , if possible. |

I highly recommend buying or borrowing a portable DVD player. I live in Indiana, and we took one on the plane to Seattle to visit my Dad. Our little girl would have gone crazy if it weren't for the $100 we spent on the player. She just watched her cartoon movies the whole way. |

I would get a portable DVD palyer and some Disney movies. Also get some kids songs CDs, and some coloring books. Board games like Candy Land (etc) all have travel editions that are easy to take in the car too. Good luck, and have fun on your vacation! |

Have him bring a portable gaming device, make sure the batteries are charged. Also playing music is a good thing, because he can sing along and you can too while you are driving. You could play guessing games, and if you have a DVD player in your car have him watch that. Also snacks are good for long trips. |

I have done the drive from NJ to Disney so I understand. This is what we did:
1. We leave around dinner time. I pack a cooler with sandwiches, drinks, and snacks and we eat dinner in the car.
2. We do bring a portable DVD player and movies. We use Disney movies to get the kids into the spirit.
3. We drive overnight. Eventually the kids fall asleep, and the drive is peaceful and there is no traffic. We do get the kids out to stretch their legs and use the restroom whenever we stop for gas.
4. We stop for breakfast. Usually we are in Florida by this point and we stop at a Waffle House.
5. While it is light and the kids are awake, we play games. With a four year old, you could look for blue cars or count road signs.
6. Once we are in Florida, we have to the kids try to find all the Disney signs.
I hope this helps! |

if your car doesn't have a dvd player it might be a decent investment because there are very reasonably prices ones out there that have car chargers...so get a bunch of disney movies...
obviously the best thing to do is to sit next to your child and talk to him/her, make up "contests" about who could find things out the window first etc.etc. (who doesn't remember playing that game as a kid)...
there are games that are made for the car, even for little kids so i would recommend that you look at the toys r us website for more info. good luck and enjoy disneyworld! |

let him choose the music you play as much as it may annoy/bore you..
give him maybe a game boy..and make it a definite easy game so it doesnt get frustarated
maybe give him some coloring books...and give him a map and tell him to tell you where to go...
obviously you wont take his advise...but just make him feel helpful |
