yes. southerners are known to fight for hours over who gets the break. they are wild and crazy about their pool tables. just to be on the safe side, be sure to tip your hat to the ladies and buy a round of beer for everyone at the table. dont do this is in alabama though. there it is considered bad manners to tip your hat to strange women. in alabama a good greeting is to imitate curly from the three stooges. i wish you luck. ps bring your own chalk. |

What would make you think that? Have you been watching some bad movies? If you go in with an attitude looking for trouble, shooting off your mouth..you will find trouble anywhere, not just in establishments with pool tables. Respect people and they will treat you the same. |

Similary there is never any blood or bruising from a knockout punch and the rednecks are generally good natured and will all stand around waiting patiently for their turn to be knocked out. |

No. I live in the "deep south" and have frequented many, many bars with a pool table (for decades). Never been in a fight. Have also never seen one.
It is an idea pushed by Hollywood films and not based in reality. A sort of regional stereotyping perpetrated by script-writers who are not concerned with reality.
"Mirror" has a good answer, but I don't think it has to be "redneck"s for "hitting on (someone else's) women" to be asking for trouble! |
