I like the way some people took the time to answer your question and NOT be helpful.
First off, I had a major fear of flying and put off going to the states for years. Then I met my boyfriend who really wanted me to go on holiday to Las Vegas and eventually I knew the only way to get over my fear was to book the flight, go to my doctor beforehand for some calming meds, and read up on how long the flight would be, what entertainment is on board etc. Travelling by boat will cost alot of money, trust me, I looked into it too! I also kept the customer service number handy for the airline so that when I had a question I could call them and ask, and I did. They were happy to answer any questions I had and even on the plane the flight crew were really nice when I told them it was my first time flying.
Perhaps you could take a course in facing your fears? Once I was on the first flight, saw how relaxed, calm and professional all the flight crew were, I started to calm down and had a fantastic time. Yes I did worry about the flights home but they were brilliant aswell and I am so glad I did it.
Hope it helps!
Cx.
PS: I can't even swim....lol. |

You can go by car, it will just take a ridculous amount of time. Drive to the very furthest tip of Alaska, and then take a ferry over to Russia. From there, drive across the Russian part of Asia (mostly through Siberia) and then the rest of Europe. There's a tunnel that connects France to England that you can drive through. Happy driving! |

Take a repositioning cruise! These discounted off-season cruises are fun and VERY inexpensive. Cruise lines must reposition their ships at varying intervals during the year. For instance a cruise liner may spend the Winter in the Caribbean and the Spring in the Mediterranean. They need to get their boat from here to there. Rather than sail the ships without passengers, cruise lines discount these "repositioning" cruises.
Lindale Travel specializes in repositioning cruises. Click on the link below for more information.

You can cruise across the atlantic with Cunard. This is the quickest route and most frequent. They leave from New york and sail into Southampton in England. You can book a round trip.
I have booked this route for many of my customers who are afraid of flying and visting the States. I believe the Queen Mary is now doing the routing, she is a big ship so there will be plenty to keep you occupied for the 6 days at sea. |

you can take a one way transatlantic cruise. I'm pretty sure all the major cruise lines do that. It could probably be cheaper than flying but you just have to get yourself to the port. that would probably be either Miami, Norfolk (VA), or New York. |

You can get a ferry (boat I think still). But it may take a few days, I am not sure how long exactly.
But flying isn't that bad, (that’s easy for me too say) and it is a lot quicker. |

I believe the QE2 is the cruise ship that goes from the UK to the USA.
Good luck. |

You need to get over this fear. It helps by taking consecutive short distance domestic flights with the aid of Night Quil liquid-caps to help you relax and ease your fear of flying. Hopefully after these flights, your fear will subside and should be ready for the long distance flight across the pond. |

You could go by boat. It would take a lot longer, but it would probably be more fun. |

You can tie a bandana around your eyes and suck it up. On the plane you can sleep and what not. Just fly Southwest airlines. It's the safest one out there. =^.^= If you are to take a ship or a boat think of Titanic and take the damn plane. |

If you are scared of air travel go by boat however it does take around 7 days I think. Plane and ferry are the only ways across. |

Well, you'd either have to go some wings (red bull is good for that), pull a Jesus and walk on water, take a cruise ship(and have some fun on the way there) or just take some pills to relax (xanex is good) and just go on the plan, it'll be a LOOOt quicker!Oh, and remember to bring a computer, games, ipod/cd player or anything to keep you busy so you dont think about being scared. Also, be sure to get a seat away from the window. |

You could take a ship. Of course that would mean a drive to a seaport. It would be relaxing and fun. I wish I was going, it's my dream. Enjoy |

Ship. Most ships crossing the Atlantic are cruise liners but quite a few cargo ships will also take a few passengers.
Your only other alternatives are more like major expeditions:-
(a) Take the long way round by ship across the Pacific and Indian Oceans, through the Suez Canal and then the Mediterranean and Atlantic; or
(b) across the Arctic from Canada to Russia via the North Pole and then by rail through Russia and Europe, arriving in England by rail through the Channel Tunnel. This would have to be done in mid winter when the ice reaches all the way to the land; or
(c) Travel by car or rail to Alaska and cross to Russia by sea and the travel right across Russia and Europe by rail to England (the roads are a nightmare - don't even consider it) |
