Unfortunately, the people of Texas are so infatuated with the piece of dirt known as Texas that they call themselves Texans no matter where they live. If you ask someone that is originally from Dallas where they are from, they will tell you Texas. It's a way of making themselves seem more important and a part of a larger group than they are actually a part of. A great deal of the people that reside in Dallas are transplants. Us "Damn Yankees" are here to take your money!
By the way, for those "Texans" that actually believe the old wives tale of Texas being able to fly the Texas state flag at the same height as the American flag because of some agreement that was signed during their entrance into the union, that story is false. Look it up on Snopes.com. Any state could do it if they wanted to, however, they actually respect the United States. Learn it! |
