If we stay in a Disney World Resort Hotel, do we still hae to buy tickets to get in the park?

Someone told me that we will, but that doesn't make since because won't we already be inside the park if we stay at one of their resorts? Confused, please explain.

The short answer is yes--you have to buy park tickets as well.

Walt Disney World is an immense complex--twice the size of Manhattan. There are four theme parks within Walt Disney World, and--depending on how you count!!--about 25 Walt Disney World resorts. None of the resorts is actually in a park, and you will need tickets to enter the parks regardless of where you stay.

I can tell by your question that you are a first time visitor :)--check out this site for all kinds of advice: http://yourfirstvisit.net/ In particular, see this page for where to stay at Walt Disney World: http://yourfirstvisit.net/planning-your-first-family-trip/where-to-stay/

Have a great trip!! Dave

you need to buy tix to get into the parks---you are just at a disney hotel, that may be a walk-ride away from one of the parks~~

Yes tickets are still required. Here is the sense: Disney World is huge, staying in one of the Resorts could mean you are quite a distance from the park or parks of choice. You will need to purchase tickets for each day of you stay. If you want to go to more than one park per day you will need a park hopper ticket. If you want to go to the water parks you need to add that option to your cost. You can then either pay for your meals as you purchase them or purchase a dinning plan. All of this is explained on the website: www.waltdisneyworld.com

Yes you will need to buy park passes. We normally get a package deal through Disney. Hotel and park passes. Then it's all done in one easy step. I would suggest that you spend a bit more and get the park hopper option. That means you can go to more than one park in a day.

One thing to keep in mind is, if you are staying at a DW resort, you will have the benefit of Disney's Extra magic hours. Times in certain parks for Disney Guests only. Take advantage of it, it really helps.

Have fun

Your question is kind of like asking "If I'm in the city of Green Bay do I still have to buy tickets to get into a Packer game?"

If you are indeed staying at a WDW Resort Hotel you still need tickets to get into the parks. The parks and hotels are all owned by Disney and on Disney property, but you need tickets to get into the individual parks (Magic Kingdom, Disney Hollywood Studios, Animal Kingdom and EPCOT) or if you want to visit one of the water parks. My suggestion is to get a "Park Hopper Plus" ticket for the length of your stay. You can go to any park on any day, and even go to more than one park on any given day.

thunder2sys
you will be in the park, but not inside the attraction. You still have to get tickets, the monorail drops you off at the entrance and then you have to go through the gate where they take your ticket.

disneyfan
The resorts are not in the theme parks, they are just in DIsney World. You can view the map at disneyworld.com. You go from your resort by bus or monorail-monorail is only for deluxe hotels, like the Polynesian, Grand Floridian, and Contemporary, to the theme park of your choice, then get off the bus/monorail and walk to the front entrance of the park, put in your hotel room key -they call that the Key to the World, which has your tickets on them, and you get into the park. The deluxe resorts offer views of the theme parks, but you still are not in them. Hope that helps, try to find a map, that would help it make more sense to you.

Just to clear it up, you don't get free dining for booking now. Free dining is for qualified stays only in certain resorts and certain dates. There are only a certain number of rooms offered and may very well be sold out by now. You certainly can ask about the free dining, but I didn't want you to think that you automatically could eat for free by booking now.

It certainly would be nice if resort guests got into the theme parks for free, but you will have to purchase tickets to get into the theme parks.

For more information about all things disney try allears.net or disboards.com.

Have fun!

The four main theme parks are Magic Kingdom, Epcot, Hollywood Studios, and Animal Kingdom. Each has it's own entrance and requires a ticket for admission.
There are also 2 water parks, Blizzard Beach and Typhoon Lagoon. They each require a ticket for admission.
Disney has a large shopping area that does not require a ticket for admission.
Each resort (hotel) on Disney property is near one of the theme parks, but not in the theme park. For example, the Polynesian resort is near Magic Kingdom, but not inside the gates. Every hotel guest still needs to purchase admission to enter the theme parks.

citrusgirl277
yes you will have to buy tickets because you are only staying at a resort you are not in the park

Hellou
It's best to get a package deal with hotel and tickets all in one! MUCH cheaper that way! Plus, get park hopper passes, that way you can go to any park and time of the day and you dont have to buy another ticket!
I like to stay (with my family) at Port Orleans, Riverside! It's beautiful and relaxing but fun!

Check it out here..pretend to sign up for a trip and that way you can get an idea of how much everything will be:

You will still have to get tickets. We stayed in a Disney Resort hotel. It is in the park, but not in the attraction. You will be able to stay there without tickets but if you wish to do anything you need tickets. Disney is so expensive.

S155
Yes, you do still have to buy tickets. You're not "in" the parks, just on the Disney property when you're staying at a Disney World Resort Hotel. Some are closer to the parks than others.

epcotexpert
yes, you still do. you are not in one of the four WDW parks even if you stay on property. Even if you stay on property, you are still not IN one of the theme parks. Magic Kingdom, Epcot, Hollywood Studios, and Animal kingdom are all seperate from the 22 resorts that WDW has to offer. If you stay on disney property you will get the option to stay for extra magic hours in the morning or at night,(one park only every day). Disney World is just the name for the whole world, not just the parks. Hope you have a great time at the most magical place on earth! Hope this helped!

Princess Cupcake
Yes, you will still have to buy tickets. You can go to http://disneyworld.disney.go.com/wdw/index and search for the dates you will be traveling to Disney and they have amazing deals going on. Right now you get a free dining plan which is at least a $300 value.

Once you pick out the dates and which hotel you will be staying at there is a ticket selector that lets you chose how many days you want to have admission to the park and whether or not you would like Park Hopper and Water Parks and More (I would highly suggest getting these, because they allow you to go to Downtown Disney and the Water Park, also allows you to go to multiply parks in 1 day).
