No! There is a giant fence around Disney and once you're inside you can't leave until you check out!

If you have your own car then you can go from the theme park and back to the hotel again.

If you leave to go to Universal you will not be allowed back in!

We stayed at the Disney Dolphin the last time and when we came back from Universal Studios, lights, sirens and strobes lit up when we brought our souvenirs through the door! No but seriously, you're free to do what you want, but they prefer you spend your money at their facilities by not providing transportation to other parks. Why should they? One thing that put me off was the size of the hotel. It's a 10-15 minute walk from the parking lot to our room (not including the elevator) like everything else there. Next time, I would prefer to stay off site at the Embassy Suites or something and drive in.

Yes you can take a day or a few to go to Universal or anywhere else you want. I personally recommend staying at WDW instead of off proerty and doing other things you might want to do. If you did not drive to WDW you can rent a car on property, ask at your resort desk about a rental car, or you can contact Mears for shuttle service which may be a cheaper alternative to renting a car.

The last time I checked, over the phone, the Walt Disney World hotel does provided some free transportation to either some or all of the theme parks.

Please check with the bell boys or the front desk for drop up and pick up times. A word to the wise: if the driver says something like: "I will be here at 7p.m." then please be there
at that spot 15 or 20 minutes before the pick up time. Most driver's are strict.

of course you can leave, Disney doesnt trap you lol.. Financially they do but thats another story. If you do leave, you will have to pay for your own transportation..

Yes you can go where ever you want but the Disney bus service only takes you to Disney parks so you will have to find your own transportation. Best of luck!

Of course you can! You're not locked into WDW by any means. As long as you have transportation there and back it's fine. There's so much to see in and around the area....go see all you can!

leela

You can go wherever you want. Just because you're staying at WDW doesn't mean you have to do everything there.

Ofcourse you can visit Universal while you are in "town" and staying at a Disney resort hotel.

Disney will not provide transportation to Universal so you are on your own there!

Disney Transportation to the various parks and attractions is provided in the form of a free bus service, with buses running roughly every 15 mins, or more frequently during busy periods. That does not include Universal Studios, but you're free to travel, on your own, anywhere you want. You can leave and enter the park area as often as you wish without any penalty or fee.
