If you steel something and dont get caught and you go back to that store can they catch u then?

Shoplifting is a misedemeanor has a 2 year statute of limitations. In other words you can be prosecuted for 2 years. In the case you described it is unlikely, but not impossible, that the store would try to prosecute. They are perfectly within their legal rights to ask you not to return to the store or you will be arrested for trespassing. They are not obligated to prove anything to anybody. The store is private property. The store can only be succesfully sued if you can prove that you were thrown out because of racial bias.

Stores rarely prosecute a first time shoplifting offender who is a minor. They simply ban you from the store and call your parents. Sometimes parents volunteer their children to assist the store to make up for the theft.

how can they catch you after the fact?? do you mean it may be on video tape or something? if that's the case you already are caught, they just aint got around to arresting you yet. minimum of 10 years they got in most places, the rest of your life in canada as we no longer have a statute of limitations for ANY crime even littering! good luck with that, gonna suck looking over your shoulder for the rest of your days. go back to the store and confess as well as paying for the merchandise.tell them you will voluntarily be barred from the store for 6 mos. hopefully the honesty impresses them and they don't charge you or banish you for life which is what they can do.

If you steal something and then return it just hope that you are not caught. Stealing is stealing! As soon as you intentionally took it out of the store without paying for it, it is shoplifting. Just because you had second thoughts and perhaps some remorse doesn't change the fact that you stole. But a judge might be more lenient if you were prosecuted. Although I doubt you would be prosecuted. But it's unlikely you would be allowed to shop in that store again in the future.

depends on whether or not they have a camera there i wouldn't try it. But hey you take your own chances happy stickyfingering. but i advise you not to try

Theyd prob tell you to leave if they have the proof or just not sell you anything.

If they have evidence sure they can. It's not like if they shorts change you and you don't realise, you can't get your money back.

How, they didn't catch you. If they saw you then surely they would have caught you. My advice is don't steal, have more self pride. You wanna feel good about yourself - don't you? Good luck Not that I think you have done something like that, its the advice I would give.

Depends what you stole. If it was small like a bottle of travel shampoo they wont do anything. If it was big like a video game number 1: You wouldn't get passed the door. Number 2: They would catch you immediately.
