Most cities that seem to be glamerous or cool turn out to be pretty hard core once there, so running away wouldn't be nearly as good of an idea as it may seem. If i wanted to change my environment I'd consider moving in with a reletive in another area if possible and thinking about it a small or midsize city would be a lot more friendly and easier to get used to.
