If you'll be missing school I think you should definitely not go. Your spelling is horrendous!

Madam Tussaud's Wax Museum - all ages will enjoy. It is amazing how lifelike some of the statues are. Some of them look like they are about to turn and talk to you. A visit takes 2-4 hours depending on how much time you spend looking.

Hubby and I are in the area make frequent trips to NYC and we and my 3 sisters all enjoyed it. It is right off Broadway in Times Square too, which I'm sure you'll visit too.

You can see everyone from Oprah to Fred Astaire here. And I think they are doing a special Pirates of the Carribean exhibit right now too.

Another insider's tip - Radio City Music Hall is shabby and overrated - if you want to see a show stick to Broadway.

Enjoy!

in April? that's a long ways away. plenty of time for you to research.

i recommend Central Park, Museum of Natural History, Musuem of Modern Art, any corner pizza joint, Greenwhich Village, Bronx Zoo, Ellis Island is cool if you want to trace your family history, you can see the Statue of Liberty.

Moma, chinatown, broadway are few places u must try.
Recomend you hop on a Gray Line that tickets are available in most tour agency or hotel concierge for day tour.

DoH
Get tickets to a broadway show - that is a must.
Go get a deli sandwich at Carnegie Deli
Take the boat to Ellis Island and the Statue of Liberty.
If it's mid to late April, go to a Yankee's game, 2008 will be the last season for the house that Ruth built.
Go shopping on 5th Ave.
Take a carriage ride in Central Park.

ride the subway ($2 for one way)
Ground Zero isn't that interesting since it is all under construction.
Madison Garden?
Central Park!
Go to a restaurant called Carmine's (very popular and serves family style..lots of great Italian food)
Shopping in Manhattan.

Have fun!

Well, you HAVE to visit the Island, but after you are done with the city of course. :)
Specific places....it would really depend on what you are into.
But the city definitly seems to be the big attraction for tourists.

i'd be jealous.

Go on the All Loops Tour.
http://www.coachusa.com/newyorksightseeing/
It's a good deal: you see everything worth seeing in one day, or if you prefer, in different days, b/c it's a 'Hop-On, Hop-Off' tour. And it's reasonably priced.

Since you have 8 months to plan, I would recommend that you go to your local library, check out some travel guides to NYC, read various recommendations, and decide for yourselves what sounds interesting to you.

You can also Google "New York" with phrases like "Walking Tour" to find tons of pages of things that you might like/hate seeing when you are there.

A lot of the cultural things -- plays, musicals, museum exhibits, etc. will change between now and then, so any recommendations of that type would be dated anyway.

i go to new york yearly, and i go with people aged from 15-50 and everyone has a great time.

1. china town, it's amazing. and there is a culinary school there, it's hard to miss and you can get an 8 course meal for $40 per person.
2. juniors, its an amazing cheesecake place.
3. ray bari's it's a 24 hour pizza place in manhattan, best pizza ever.
4. statue of liberty and take the ferry to elise island.
5. i'd look up the shows playing right now, theres always some good ones.
6. have a picnic in central park, it's beautiful.
7. just go to manhattan and you'll find so many shopping places.
8. take the number 7 train, it's outside and has nice scenery.
9. go to rockaway beach.
10. soho
11. empire state building
12. metropolitan museum of art
13. time square
14. go to macy's..it's huge!
15. century 21, designer brands for cheap.

anywhere you go, take the train or a bus. taxis can become expensive. and the experience of the train & bus are so much fun.

take a taxi at least once too, thats an experience...
