LaShish has great middle eastern food. It's also fun to go to Greek Town and the casinos. But if you like museums, the Henry Ford museum is great. And Greenfield village will probably have beautiful decorations for the holidays. Greenfield Village and Henry Ford museums are full of American history - they are great. I recommend one of the casino's buffets for Thanksgiving dinner. We went to one a few years ago and it was great. |

Why is everyone talking about cities other than Detroit? The question was where is there to go downtown, not Royal Oak or Livonia, obviously you people don't get downtown much, there is a lot to do down there.
Oh and Bananach, West Bloomfield is not IN Detroit...they are both cities.
If you like Irish pubs definitely check out Old Shillelagh's Irish Pub, it's a lot of fun, but plan on drinking a lot, also Cheli's Chili downtown. I've heard the new MGM is really cool, as someone else said Wolfgang Puck has a restaurant there and a friend of mine said the club was fun, but they played a lot of techno music. Use these links below they should help you. But stay in the downtown area, you don't want to end up in the wrong area. You could also use the people mover if your staying close to it.
Oh, the tree and ice skating rink is up at Campus Martius Park too.
Anywhere you go around the stadium will be fun and it is safe around there!!
Have fun, be safe and Happy Thanksgiving! |

Greektown has the Casino and a bunch of Greek-inspired restaurants. You could take a cab to MGM Grand Casino. They have clubs and fine dining. Bring your passport and cross the border over to Canada and hang out in Windsor. That's a cool town, too. |

Cheli's Chilli is awesome. Hockeytown if you can get in. Actually there is this really cute irish pub off the riverwalk by the ren cen. Also if you get the chance get out and go to Birmingham that's where all the shopping and 'scene' is at. |

Yes make reservations at Wolfgang puck for dinner one night for sure this is located in the MGM Detroit casino located just a couple of miles from ford field. Greektown casino is located close to Ford field and they have a cool strip loaded full of Greek restaurants. If you prefer Mexican we have a Mexican town just west of the stadium about 5 miles that has great food as well. For the night life you will need to head north to a city called Royal Oak or Ferndale about 10 miles however I guarantee an awesome time. Both of these cities have an awesome night life that will sure to give you a trip to remember. |

There's alot of new stuff by Ford Field: Greektown, Hockeytown Cafe, bars, casinos, clubs, etc.
Since you're staying for a few nights, I would suggest trying to visit Windsor for one night and check out the strip on Oullette. There's a great view of the Detroit skyline from there, and alcohol is slightly cheaper (not much considering the exchange rate).
Also, don't take too much stock in the hype about crime. |

If you are willing to travel from the downtown area, I would suggest a sports bar called Champps. There is on in Livonia (734-591-3334). There is also a restaurant in the Fairlane Mall called Starters Bar and Grill (313-441-0400) that also has the sports' theme. They're both nice establishments for entertainment. I would pick them in the order provided. Hope you have a pleasant time |

you would have been better off waiting for packer tickets in GB. Detriot is a dump, and whole city is one large landfill. Bring a gun too, or do not leave the hotel! |
