I was in New York in the beginning of December a few years ago. Even though I took my warmest coat I ended up walking into the nearest shop to buy hat, scarf and gloves!
It's COLD so especially if you're doing a lot of shopping I'd take a pair of flat boots that are big enough for big, warm, ski style socks.
That way you can be comfy and fashionable at the same time! |

It'll be very very cold, probably snowy and you'll probably walk ten miles a day. So comfortable flat boots, the wife says earmuffs are essential as well. |

something sturdy, it will be cold and possibly icy, so something with a bit of grip on the soles. |

Sneakers are a must in n.y c or some cool ankel boots. too many people walking at the same time and your toes will get stomped on as sure as you walk one step in N.y, Believe me Im a native New Yorker. |
