Depends on how much you want to spend (how much you love her - JK) Something overlooking Time Square, Central Park. Heck even something in Edgewater or Jersey City overlooking the Hudson would be romantic. Make sure to tell reservation desk you want a view. |

We stayed in the Belvedere hotel which is just off Times Square. It was our third trip to Manhattan and definitely made the best by the wonderful hotel, which was also very spacious compared to others we have stayed in.
The staff were wonderful and the location was great :o) |

it all depends on what you want to spend {just remember you get what you pay for }The Sheraton Manhattan is a decent hotel west 51 st at 7 ave, but better still is the Michelangelo 50 st at 7 th ave my daughter and i paid £1.5OO for seven nights at the Michelangelo in Sept 06 and we got upgraded to a £2.OOO room really beautiful hotel. but don't forget you not only pay for the hotel you are also paying for the location {both the above hotels are within walking distance of Times Square and Central Park Fifth Ave } but i am sure if you look at expedia .com you will find a hotel to meet your needs best of luck have a great time |

depends upon your budget....
try to stay on the upper east side...if you can...
carlyle hotel..pierre..mark hotel...
in midtown: ...four seasons...LondonNYC ( brand new hotel)
or the st.regis.
steer clear of the tourist trap hotels..in midtown and near times square...
downtown..they are the hotels that think they are hip..but aren't.
the upper east side is clean, quiet ..near central park..and very very elegant. |

Definately the Sheraton, its 2 min walk to Broadway, 5 min walk to park and Lindys Diner is next door and serves the best cheesecake ever, rooms are really clean and easy access to clubs and bars. |

My boyfriend took me for a long weekend in New York and we stayed at the W hotel in Union Square. Fabulous!
There are a few W hotels in New York. They're owned by Starwood hotels, the same chain as the Sheraton, but they're more upscale, modern, and trendy.

For any hotel you choose, try to get a room up on one of the highest floors. The higher up, the better for a truly New York view and experience. |

The Hudson is pretty cool in a minimalist sort of way. Very small rooms, though. Fantastic bar. |

try the Jolly Madison Towers Hotel. It a 4 star hotel mainly for business people so the weekend rates are pretty good as they are not so busy over the weekend. You can also try the Park Savoy Hotel (2 star hotel). It has great location (one block from Central Park) and very good rates. |

Lucky girlfriend! I went for my 5th trip in February and love the place. That time, we stayed at the Milford Plaza and booked it directly with the hotel. We paid $811 inc tax for 5 nights. It's not the most luxurious of hotels but the beds were clean and the location was fantastic - 45th and 8th, literally just around the corner from Times Square. There was a subway station one block down which took us all over the place but we also walked to lots of places. Central Park was walking distance as was the Port Authority Bus Station which is where we came into from Newark Airport. We also got the bus to Woodbury Common Premium Outlet for some serious shopping. It was quite noisy at night but I think that's the same for any hotel. I've also styaed at the Doubletree Metropolitan on Lexington which was wonderful, very modern but a little more expensive. Most things were within walking distance but a little further away from Times Square . On our last trip we wanted to be closer to TS for visits to the cinema in the evening.
For location and prices, I'd definitely recommend the Milford Plaza but just remember, it's not a luxury hotel and you'll be fine. I'm sure your girlfriend will be so excited about being in New York it won't matter too much, as long as the hotel is clean. I also liked the fact that to access the elevators, you had to show your room key to the concierge.
Have a great trip - I'm going again in November and can't wait. |

For a view, try the Jersey City Hyatt. You get spectacular views of lower Manhattan and the Statue of Liberty. You can take the PATH train to Manhattan or even more Romantic the NY Waterway Ferry in front of the Goldman Sachs Bldg.
Else, for something funky, try the Grand in Soho. |

The best western as it is walking distance to the shops. Also you can get really good rates If you are planning to go to macys make sure you go to the visitor centre on the top floor with you passport as you will get a10% discount card for you stay in new york which you can use as many times as you wish that will save you money i found the best way is to arrange your flight and hotel separate and not go through a travel agent as they will charge you the earth |

Don't go to the Best Western off Broadway, very noisy, lousy rooms and service. New York is great been twice, only one public toilet at bottom end of Manhatten and one at the top, no seats anywhere either. Maceys basement great for lunch also Grand central station has a huge food court. Enjoy. |
