North Carolina still has affordable housing and mild winters. I'm in VA and at least here in Wmbg its EXPENSIVE. PA is very, very affordable and has lots of shopping...but many areas lay you off every year...the economy is the pits in PA. I've lived in CA and it's expensive in Sacto but I loved it there.
I'd stick with GA or NC or SC before I'd live almost anywhere else.
Try www.realtor.com to find housing in different areas of whatever state you wish to live. |

Go to someplace with mountains like...Utah or something. I heard they've got a lot of snow now and the mountains are beautiful. I've got a penpal that lives up there and that's all she talks about. THe people are nice and there's plenty of malls. |

I love VA myself. I'm from SC, but have lived in VA most of my adult life. It has the beach and the mountains and the people are friendly. Housing is pretty reasonable unless you live in northern VA. It is a beautiful state and has tons of history. |

GA? No snow, no climate change! Ohio is the place for me. I might not recomend next too, specially east of the lake because it can be pretty ruff up there. Portage County as long as your not in the 'snow belts', is IMO heaven. |

Maine is a quiet place and it''s more peaceful. LA (CA) is a more complicated place, it's more populated and easier to shop. It all depends on your favors. |

Every state has it's own positives and negatives. Start researching and you will find many places that will meet your wants and needs. Good luck! |

I have been all over the United States. I lived 43 years in Southern California. The LA and the OC area. Nothing is affordable there, but it has everything else, including high crime and mean people and lots of pollution. I like Oregon, but it does rain a lot. Georgia is nice and some of the Southern states. I now live in Utah, just south of Salt Lake City and I absolutely LOVE it. I live in a very small town, but it's close to a lot of shopping and malls and stuff. My 800 square foot home in LA has a market value of half a million, but my 2,200 square foot home in Utah only costs about half that and you can get homes for less with a lot more land! The wasatch mountain range is beautiful and there are lots of things to do. I enjoy the four seasons and my camera is having a blast! My walls will be teaming with my own photographs soon. I enjoy the more natural landscape and I even get deer in my yard! I LOVE it here. Let me know when you want to move and I'll put you in touch with a realtor who will be awesome! cstinett@yahoo.com |

There are a lot of states like what you describe. The problem I have with Georgia is that depending where you go, you may encounter swamp smells - yuk.
I like Tennessee, Kentucky, Arizona and of course...Texas! |

Anywhere in the midwest. Arkansas is lovely, and has a booming economy, and so does Iowa. |
