New York, NY. Because the images of the city are so pervasive - in movies, on TV, in the books - when I came here it seemed very familiar. People are much friendlier than we have a reputation for being. Almost everything anyone would want to do with their professional lives or free time is either here or nearby.

It's relatively easy to get around and, if one is careful, it's not the most expensive place in the world. You can eat great food for very little money, clothe yourself well on the cheap. The best seats at the Metropolitan Opera are incredibly expensive, but even there, student rush and standing room are reasonable and tickets to most things are fairly easy to come by. On any given night you have the choice of hundreds of shows, exhibitions, performances, nightclubs - beyond imagining.

The city has problems, but even those are real and interesting. It's always changing, & it's really impossible to be bored here if you have a brain in your head and a Metrocard in your pocket.

I wish I could remember who said this, or a version of it: "Living in New York has made me unfit to live anywhere else." A lot of people feel that way, & are happily surprised when it dawns on them that it's happened to them.

Renegado
San Diego, because it's America's finest city.

NYC. A little iowa girl in the "big bad city" Actually I loved it. The people, the places, everything. Even the mugger who stole a thousand dollars from me. Joking.

i liked huntington beach in orange county. it was some much different then north ga and the girls there are so hot.

Lisa
NYC, because it has everything you would ever need.

Charleston, S.C. I was stationed there while in the military and the history that Charleston possesses is awesome.

NYC. They have the best public transportation, almost no need for a car of your own. Things move quickly and all the resturants are usually really good. Lots of places to go and lots to see. You can meet many very different people in a very short amount of time. Its perfect.

lint
Seattle It's so clean with lots to do

DC Bob
For free things to do, Washington, D.C.
For the beach scene, Miami Beach, Florida or South Padre Island, Texas
For a wild time (before) Mardi Gras, New Orleans, Louisiana.
I could keep going, but different strokes for different folks or defferent moods of the same folks.

Branson, MO. It's just beautiful and exciting. Pheonix, AZ was a nice change, also.

All the big American cities are hideous...no culture, lots of urban sprawl (gas stat ions, wal-marts, and strip malls). You want to see beautiful cities, go to Europe!

We really liked St. Helena, CA in the Napa Valley. Sweet and romantic with great wine and great weather. Also, we like NYC. It just feels like the center of the world there!

Portland, Oregon is the nicest. Some of the reasons are: nice weather, close to the coast, very pedestrian friendly and easy to get around without driving, many fun things to do, very clean, beautiful parks, great shopping and Tilamook cheese is not far away.

ronisizefan
Wisconsin Dells...there is soooo much to do there, and they have something for everybody!!!

I like Charleston, SC. It's a great historical southern city. It's not really fast and everyone seems to be relaxed and enjoying their surrounds. I also like Orlando/ Kissimmee because I love Disney and that there's always something to do.

Kema Texas, right on the coast of Galveston Bay. Beautiful scenery, lots of good restaurants where you can eat right on the water and watch the boats go by.

The nicest city I've been to was probably Monterrey, CA. The weather was absolutely perfect. No humidity, warm days, cool nights. It was a very small city but very quaint and friendly. It reminds me a lot of where I live now in New Zealand.
