It's not a holiday, just a day of remembrance. And that question was asking why people were treating it like ti was a holiday, when it's not. Lol I saw the same question :D |

Why would a tragedy be a holiday?!? |

no
why would we celebrate a moment like that. The most we could do is give a few minutes of silence to think of those we lost. |

no, its not
i kind of think it should, but at the same time, its a day of mourning, not celebration.
i get off school because of hurricane ike tomorrow, so, i get my holiday.
but whats crazy, my family has family friends that worked in the world trade center, one in each building, and the day that it happened, they were both off. one flew to massachusetts for a business thing, and the other took the day off to go play golf. its a miracle that they got off that same day. they were engaged, too :] |

Well it isn't an official holiday but it is remembered in many ways throughout the country. In my (Catholic) school we always have a prayer service on 9/11 and we ALWAYS talk about it in Social Studies. It is also televised on many news stations. I think it's good that we still remember and pray for all of the many people who died on 9/11 and pay respects to the families.
So no it's not a holiday but more of an anniversary of a horrific event in our country's history. Much like the bombing of Pearl Harbor.
Hope I helped make some things clearer,
Trisha :) |
