I am moving very soon, I wanted to know if Austin / San Antonio was a good place to live, or any towns/cities around that area in Texas? Or Any suggestions for other places in Texas. What is your experience like there? |

Central Texas in general is a great place to live. If you like city life Austin is it. If you like a little more suburban living look south of Austin in the Kyle/Buda/San Marcos area. Rural look west of Austin in the Hill Country.
I'm a native Texan and the Austin area is the only place I'd live in the whole state. San Antonio is a nice place to visit but I wouldn't live there. Try to ignore the negative comments by others...most of us are friendly even if we are weird, but hey that's our motto "KEEP AUSTIN WEIRD". |

Austin is a great place to live. We moved here from Houston four years ago and do not plan on moving anywhere else. Austin is very diverse, it's a college town! We've got Dell, Whole Foods, Freescale, AMD, Motorola, IBM and other big companies here! Make sure you visit Lake Travis, Mount Bonnell & the UT Tower for great views, South Congress & 2nd St for great boutique shopping, San Marcos for the outlet malls and of course the infamous 6th Street! :)
San Anotonio is a fun place to visit, but wouldn't want to live there. If you want, San Marcos (another college town) is a small cute city in between Austin and San Antonio.
I wouldn't pay attention to those who say they don't like it here. I've been to other big cities and couldn't imagine living anywhere else. |

YES Austin is a nice place to live but there is a nice little town that i live in around new Braunfels. It is called McQueeney. It is a nice little town with a lake that we call Lake McQueeney. So if you want a more peaceful town McQueeny . If you want the more City life then Austin or San Antonio or Houston is the way to go. |

It sounds like it's full of weird, alternative, freaky, yuppie people.
Seriously, live around these people first before you ASSUME you'll like them. They can be VERY strange, and not as open-minded and friendly as they claim to be. If you are down-to-Earth and sociable, please don't move somewhere like this. Just an FYI. |

If you're moving to TX, Austin is the place to be. The lifestyle is very active, there is a great social scene and the weather is great. (A little hot but you get used to it.) I would stay away from S.A. but that's just my opinion. |

Oh yeah. Try living by Mount Binel. Its tight there and off of I-35 near Pflugerville. Its alright. But other than that its an alright place to live. |

Austin Is a Racist City. ALl the Blacks and Hispanics live on the East Side of I-35 and the whites live on the west side. If you are black there is nothing to do in Austin, it is very very very boring. Unless you like Willie Nelson, Heavy Metal, and UT. Austin is pretty but its not racially diverse |
