Dear Mixed,
Florida is a great place to live. It is like living in paradise. I live in the beautiful Florida Keys. The sun shines nearly every day, the tropical climate is welcoming year round, and the Atlantic and Gulf of Mexico waters surround us.
The Keys are laid back and there is a strong sense of community between the residents.
There are also many outdoor activities to enjoy.
Please check out:

for an insider's look at the Keys.
Good luck with your decision! |

After living here for my whole life (17 years) I have to admit Florida is a nice place but I'm tired of it. Its in the corner of the U.S. so you have to drive all the way up just to get to the next state and the beaches aren't all that fun after you'vee been to them a million times. Not to mention this is Hurricane paradise. Also winter here isn't exactly winter. It gets cold for half the day then the blazing sun comes back out. Also the economy here is shitting right now so nothing is even pleasant. The schools are lacking money and jobs here are on the low. Its hard to find a job at the moment.
Also my family is Jamaican and I wouldn't recommend moving to Jamaica. After all my parents did move here from there for a better future. It's a lovely place but I don't think it would suite you best. It's more of a vacation spot to a foreigner than a place to live for the rest of your life. |

I live it here and it was way too hot! The humidity is horrible as well. Nothing like going outside and becoming a sticky mess on your way to work! |

Florida is a nice place to live its kind of like Jamaica to me because of the weather, lizards, frogs and vibes. Florida is a place where you HAVE to drive to most places like the store, its not like Jamaica where a lot of the places you can walk to and as you know already Jamaica is a nice place to live so its all up to you to choice where you would rather live
p.s. its more humid than Jamaica as i told you before you can find a tree to cool down when its hot in Jamaica but not in Florida under the tree you'll still be burning up |

It'll be warm, but it'll also be so humid you'll feel like you're living in a steam bath all day and all night. Me, I couldn't stand that. I'll take a little cool weather as long as it's dry... |

Depends on where in FL.
Where I've been it is humid, hot had lots of bugs.
Looks much nicer in CSI Miami :) |

I lived in Orlando for a couple of years and it was ok. The humidity is much higher than it is out west though. I lived in Nevada for a bit and at 80 degrees, I had a long sleeved shirt on cause the humidity was like 8%. If you want mild, warm weather, try San Francisco. It is warm but not sweaty hot. |

florida is great. the cost of living can be high on the south east coast, but this is offset by no state income tax.
the air is mostly clean, the streets and roads are maintained, it's a lovely area, the ocean is as warm as bathwater, and generally clear (east coast anyways), it's ethnically diverse (expect to learn a lot of spanish when you live here). it's comfortable year round, even on our hottest days, it's not as hot as some northeastern and southwestern states (we get into the 90s).
there is alot to do. lots of retail if you like to shop, lots of sports and entertainment. it's easy to travel from here to the caribbean, the bahamas is like 45 min plane ride away (only 30 min actually "in the air"), kids can play outside all year long.
even airconditioning year round is cheaper than the heating fuel costs up north. and if you can stand it, you don't even need airconditioning at all. all the jobs and businesses are airconditioned.
on the downside, every friend and family member you know, however distant, will invite themselves to vacation at your home. it gets old real fast.
but, yah i would recommend. fly into the ft.lauderdale airport (miami will scare you) and start looking around, sight seeing, i think you will like it. miami is fun, but too congested, looks like a tropical nyc if you know what i mean.
it's all good. never regretted, and it's been 20 years. |

I lived in Miami while attending college, but I think it was too hot and humid all the time. The Best weather is up North toward Jacksonville, Georgia and South Carolina. It does get cold but doesn't snow |

my cousin lived there and i don't think she liked it, because then she moved to alaska. i personally think that it would be a beautiful place to live! :) |

That depends on your likes and dislikes. There are many elderly people and even more Cubans and non English speaking people, but if that's what you want then why not? Traffic is hell in Miami so beware! |

There's a lot of hurricanes there.
but it is nice.
i think it's better to visit than living there, becaues cost of living is also pretty high. |
