I love Rhode Island..I went to school there for a year (URI) and I'm sad that I didn't stay (financial reasons)....
I think one of the reasons that I loved it was b/c everything was so accessable. Since it is such a small state, everything is within a half an hour away. The beaches are nice, Newport is beautiful, the people are really nice. I definitely don't think it's boring, just because it's small doesn't make it boring, it's better that it's small! |

Providence RI has a college town vibe over by Federal Hill, as well as some great Italian food, cafes, and clubs. The beaches are great - Watch Hill and Newport to name a couple. Newport is hopping in the summertime - great vacation spot. We live close to Boston, but usually find time to head to RI a few times a year. I wouldnt call it boring. Small, but not boring. |

No, Sir. Rhode Island is not a boring state. A lot of wonderful people are from Rhode Island. And you are there, yes? My family tree has some Rhode Island folks. |

Not at all!!! My favorite beach area in the Northeast is Newport, RI. The area is gorgeous and full of great history with tons of shopping, fabulous restaurants, and unbelievable nightlife. http://www.gonewport.com/
The city of Providence has improved immensely in the past decade. The Providence Place Mall is really a great shopping area with a wide variety of stores, many of which are the only ones in New England (Nordstroms). I always love Dave and Busters, and the they have a large movie theater there as well. WaterFire is a tremendous event that is held every summer. http://www.waterfire.org/ The Federal Hill Area has some of the best restaurants I've ever been to. I will admit the nightlife could be better, but there are definately plenty of bars and clubs in the area. The great part about RI being so small is that you can go from Providence to Newport in less than an hour! |

I've lived in RI all my life. I have had chances to move but never did. Much about what has already been said about Newport, the beaches, Block Island is true. The food in Providence's "Federal Hill" aka Atwells Ave. is unbelievable. The city has developed over the years and looks much more beautiful than ever. "Waterfire" is a great event during the summer, held in Providence, usually on weekends. There is definately enough to keep entertained. And the nice thing is if you do run out of things to do, Boston is only 45 minutes away. I don't think I'll ever leave this state. |

Certain parts can be, but there are so many different things all over the state that can be fascinating!
Newport Mansions
Providence-waterfires especially
Federal Hill
Great beaches
Twin River (the new casino-ish that replaced Lincoln Park)
It can be a really nice place if you find what you are looking for. |

I'm 36 and lived here all my life. We have some awesome places to eat(Federal Hill). Rhode Island seems to have a little of everything, beaches, city life, shopping, etc... It is nothing like New York if thats what your looking for but I've survived O.K.
P.S. The winter sucks |

I wouldn't say it is especially exciting, but there's enough to so where you can stay busy. Newport is beautiful, the mansions are unreal! Block Island is nice as well. Providence has come a long way in the past few years, and they have an awesome mall. Since RI is so small you can always drive up to Boston to hang out as well. |

Rhode Island has some of the best seashore not to mention the grand estates of Newport. Providence is a great little burg to explore with a revitalized downtown area complete with a lively riverfront area. Exploring Block Island is fun too. It is only boring if you start with that idea. |

I've never been, and I actually haven't heard anything about Rhode Island!! It's either boring or a well-kept secret!!

No, I do not think that it is. Providence has been developed a lot in the past 10-15 years. And Newport is always fun, as are the beaches of South County. |

Ugh! I went from growing up in Boston to spending my freshman year of college at the University of Rhode Island. After about two weeks I knew immediately that I had to transfer and move back to Massachusetts. Rhode Island is a terrible state, there's nothing to do, they drive really slow, and they drink coffee milk. |

Its not boring because of Providence Place Mall, but it does have a large homosexual population, especially in Providence. Its up to you. |
