I've lived in the suburbs of Seattle my whole life, and I love it here! Housing in some areas like Bellevue and Redmond on the Eastside can be expensive, but the city itself and the southern suburbs have some good deals.
Seattle is both a very outdoorsy and indoorsy place. There are many trails and bike paths around here, and the scenery everywhere is beautiful. But it does rain a lot, so be prepared to spend a lot of time inside as well. The only state parks around are Mt. Rainier and Mt. St Helens, but every city has plenty of small parks everywhere. I think you'd like it a lot! |

It rains alot. But I love it, its beautiful. Its very green, lots of trees! Its the Evergreen State. It has the Space Needle. Not anymore expensive than the rest of the US. Cheaper in some aspects. |

It is expensive in comparison with a lot of other places, but you can always find deals(especially around the college) or on the outskirts.Tons of outdoor stuff to do. I love it because there are beaches on the Sound, but if you want an ocean beach you only drive a few hours. Same for Mountains or to Winerys or blueberry farms or Islands or Canada. I can always find something to do.
The weather is pretty mild in comparison to other places. It never gets insanely hot or too terriblely cold.
It does rain more often, but what people need to realize is that it is a consistent drizzle in comparison to some places. and it is usually at particular times of the year. There are definitly more gray days, but when the sun is out here it is amazing. It really does have some breath taking views. |

I live in the Seattle area. It's beautiful here! We have the mountains and the sea ! Lots to see and do! The air is clean and the tap water is good. The rent in the city is high, but things get much cheaper in the outskirts. I'ts the best kept secret in the US ! You'll love it here ! Don't believe it when people say it rains here all the time....it doesn't ! |

well
seattle is more expensive and in a city enviroment so there ae not very many outdoorsy places, but there are in nearby towns.
renton is so beautiful and this is kind of right by seattle.
marymoore park is fabulous- bike riding trail, soccer, softball, rugby, everything
washington is beautiful, but it does rain- ALOT.
we will have streaks and it seems like the rain will never end
when it is sunny though, it is sooo beautiful.
i suggest to live in one of these four cities:
renton
mill creek
south everett
arlington
i love all of these places (mill creek is a little expensive)
all of them have fabulous scenery. |

Yes. If you enjoy pleasent weather and loads of outdoorsy things to do. I currently live in Denver, Colorado and don't like it to much. We went on vacation to Seattle in January and fell in love with the area. It is the greenest place I've ever seen and originally coming from Florida that's saying a lot. The land has loads of character with the huge hilly areas, the water, and the mountains. With all of those natural enviornments, I can't imagine not having anything outdoorsy to do. The weather is the biggest selling points to me...........while every other metropolitan area is sweltering in the 90's, Seattle is still in the low 70's as high tempertures...........sign me up. Yes housing prices are a little high but to enjoy the quality of life that Seattle seems to offer, I think it'll be worth it. Plus jobs are very well paying in that area of the country. |

It really depends on your opinion. I live in Seattle and consider it one of the best places in the USA to live. Relatives of mine visited from Atlanta, GA, and they commented that Seattle was very metropolitan, but also retained a feeling of community. They also loved the fact that almost wherever you go, there is a nice view of something. As for the price range, it can go from around 250,000-400,000 in West Seattle, to over 1 million in Magnolia. You can be sure to find at least a few decent houses for a good price somewhere in Seattle, so I wouldn't worry too much about that. There are many fun places to go that are "outdoors-y" in and near Seattle. There are many parks, one of the biggest being Magnuson in North Seattle. Another popular spot to visit is the beaches along the sound and lake. If biking is your thing, the Burke Gilman trail near the UW runs 10 miles relatively flat from Gasworks Park to Matthew's Beach. If you like boats, you can take one to Vashon Island, or even across the sound to the picturesque Olympic Peninsula. If you're up for a long drive, there are plenty of beautiful mountains, the most obvious being Mt. Rainier and Mt. Saint Helens. Near the waterfront downtown, there are attractions that cater to all tastes, from the trolley to the recently opened Olympic Sculpture Park. I love Seattle and have lived here all my life, and if you decide to live here, I hope you enjoy it too. |

It can be good, if you enjoy rain. Expensive would depend on where you are from. If you are from NYC then it's downright Cheap, if you're from Iowa than it's sky high. Parks aren't too far away, and it's Definately beautiful. |
