From where? If you live in the US, and are traveling to Hawaii, a US state then no. . . . Otherwise you will need a passport to enter the US.

i heard on the news not to long ago that passport might be required for all air travels..

but for what i know of if its state to state no..

hawaii is part of the united states as of 1959, but not the continental united states, but you can still travel without a passport.
