I thought it was in belgium.

?
It's part of the U.S.A. But does not touch the rest of the continous united states. It touches Canada

Anna Hennings
It's attached to Canada, but it is one of the states belonging to the United States.

abdulnonoodle
The USA bought it from Russia and we ain't selling it back to them or anyone else, especially Canada.
We are holding on to it so when the tree huggers all get whacked by muslim terrorists because tree huggers are infidels we can drill for oil in Alaska and starve out the terrorists who are using oil money from their deserts to kill the treehugger infidels.
We have a plan...!

Alaska is indeed The 49th state in the United States. Originally a Russian possession after being claimed by Vitus Bering; a Danish Explorer, who was commissioned by the Czar to explore for the Great White land to the east (Alyeska).

In 1867, William Henry Seward (Secretary of State for the United States under President Johnson), arranged the purchase of Alaska from the Russian Government for $7.2 million dollars.

In 1896, gold in incredible volumes was discovered in the Klondike territory of Canada, a short 60 miles upstream (on the Yukon River) from Alaska's territorial Federal Court.

Hundreds of thousands of "Stampeder's" headed north and were met by the Northwest Mounted Police (The Mounties), at the Alaska/Canada border, on the Chilkoot Pass (The Golden staircase).

The Canadian Mounties mandated all travelers must have in possession, one years worth of supplies to continue their journey to Dawson City, the heart of the strike.

After the Gold Rush, the U. S. and Canadian Government signed the boundary treaty in 1922; thus establishing the official border between Alaska and Canada.

During World War 2, Alaska played a vital role in the Pacific theater. The Japanese invaded Attu, and Kiska Islands of Alaska's Aleutian chain, imprisoning the Aleut (ALI-YOOT), Indians, and sending them to Japanese Prisoner of War Camps on mainland Japan.

In hurried meetings the United States and Canada agreed to build the Alcan Highway to connect Alaska with a protected land route in order to supply Alaska against an invasion by the Japanese. With Alaska's rich mineral deposits, and oil reserves it was a prime military target for The Japanese.

In 1959 Alaska became the 49th star on the United States National Flag when President Dwight Eisenhower signed the Alaska Statehood Act.

Well technically, it is by Canada, but it is owned by the U.S., so I guess you could say it is part of Canada, but it is part of the U.S.

Alaska is a state. It is north of canada, but still part of the United States.
