Here's the best places around houston.

Pearland,Tx, is the fastest growing place in the USA.

Katy,Tx, Good place, but far out of town

Sugarland,Tx, Nice place, has more banks their than anywhere else in the state.

Clear Lake,Tx, It's on the south side of houston and offers a calm place to live.

There are parts of Houston that are nice and have good schools however Houston is not a great city to live in IMO.

The traffic is horrible much worse than any other city in Texas.

The schools are decent but they put way too much emphasis on sports rather than education. Cy Fair just spent 120 million on a football/basketball facility that is better than many D1 programs.

There are pockets around the city, North- Spring/Woodlands, West-Katy, South- ClearLake, NE- Kingwood/Attascocita.

Traffic sux so pick a location on same side town as work.

Childrens museum is best I've ever seen.

I wouldn't want to raise a family here anymore. The drugs and gang situations are out of control and the schools aren't anything to write home about. The Woodlands and Memorial areas aren't too bad, but even they are going downhill fast. Katy isn't too bad.

my friend moved AWAY from Houston where her husband was an equine vet and she was a cardiac nurse. They had a large house and good income. They moved away because they had twins and didn't want to raise them there...too much crime.

Maybe not the city of Houston, but some of the outer suburbs are still good places for families and schools. But you have to watch those areas closely too, because so many of them are growing at such a fast rate, the schools are over crowded.

No. Houston sucks. The traffic sucks, the weather sucks, the schools suck. It sucks so hard that surrounding cities lean into it.

Hey! that's not true I live in Houston. Houston is awesome.

P.S. Just because were down south doesn't mean we have cowboys.

It's ok if you live in one of the suburbs. Living in the city proper is a bit too much. It is a large traffic gridlocked metropolis. It is ok to visit but not to live in.
