Steady on, mate. Keep them peepers working at all times when motoring. Ever hear the expression "the big picture?" Front, rear, sides, ahead, behind. Keep it all in mind all the time. Now, did you remember to check under you car before you drove out of your parking spot, driveway or garage? You'd be surprised how you may be surprised. Critters and even persons under your car. Persons going the wrong way on a one-way. Pedestrians, cyclists, kid chasing a ball, etc... Here endeth the lesson. :)

P.S. I'm not kidding about persons under cars. Happened at a party I attended once. Guy passed out and rolled up under our car. In the dark, we never saw him, nor would any of us ever have even thought such a thing could occur. More than 300 yards of rough road later, we heard him moan. He was pinned under the axle differential housing and had just been dragged 300 yards. Pulled his hip clean out of its socket, and ground a couple of pounds off his ***. The backsides of his clothes were gone, reduced to bits of fiber (we couldn't find a piece larger than a dime).

Oh, and I lost count of all the people I've encountered going the wrong way on one-way streets, on highway on-ramps, and even on divided highways like US interstates.

So, you see, love, you got to use those peepers and that noggin. You just never know.....

Never underestimate the ability of stupid people. The time you don't look is the time someone goes the wrong way.

Matthew C
better safe than sorry... didn't your momma tell you this?

newburg_2_fine
Only if your in Indiana cause they drive like idiots!!!

I would. You never know who's coming the wrong way.

Absolutely! The idiots going the wrong way are some of the most dangerous drivers on the road. You want to give them a wide berth.

Mom
No ,but safe. And they drive safely in Indiana.

Who?Me?
Yes, because you never know if some kind of lunatic is coming the wrong way!

You need to check for oncoming traffic, but you should glance the other way for a second just in case, as you never know when there will be pedestrians, debris, or stalled cars, etc.

?
You never know if someone is going the wrong way on a one way street. It's happened. Who knows maybe the police will be chasing someone. You don't want to pull out a the wrong time. Still good to look every way and always be scanning.

When I'm driving on a one way street, I tend to keep my attention focused on the street ahead. Occasionally, I check my rear-view mirror for an emergency vehicle with flashing lights.
Unless I'm at an intersection, why would I look both ways on a one way street?

yes, you never know what is coming the other way

Kitten
Yes, because ya never know when someone will come down it the wrong way.

grkgoddessm
If you don't want to get run over I would recommend looking both ways before crossing any street.

tonalc1
Definitely. You never know what's coming.

The best advice I received when learning to drive: assume all other drivers are drunk, insane, or both.

Is it possible to drive the wrong way on a one way street?

Based on personal expierence, i can tell you YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES ALWAYS LOOK BOTH WAYS!

Adam Taha
It is for two reason:

1. For your safety. Don't put the responsibility of your life on someone you think knows what they're doing i.e. driving.

2. Kids could be watching you, so show them by example. Or they might copy.

3. If some families that are not yours, with you, waiting to cross, don't cross because no cars passing through. For the kids to learn, just wait till safe.

I know someone did that, walked and later the kid copied and got hit. Think of others but yes, do look both ways.

Niki
I would.. What if someone on a bike plows over you from the other direction?
