Is it possible to rent a van at the airport and drive to walmart, buy a carseat before get arrested?

I am in Thailand. My kids are 2 and 3.5 yrs old. I talked to Alamo. Carseat rental fees are 2 times buying expenses. So, I decide to buy.

I wonder if we all get into the van and go to the nearest walmart on St Charles Rock Road, St. Ann which is like 6 minutes drive (from google map). Is it possible? Or I should leave everyone behind and go buy and come back to pick them up at the airport?

P.S. It will arrive at St Louis International Airport on weekday, 6-7 pm.

My daughter brings her car seats with her. You can check them like baggage.
If you decide not to do that, I'd leave them at the airport where they can get something to eat, go rent the car, go buy the seats and then call them on the cell phone to be outside and go pick them up. What are you going to do with the seats when you get done with the car?

Drew
It's possible, but EXTREMELY dangerous. It's not worth the risk. Your kids' safety comes first. Leave them behind at the airport and get one or bring a car seat with you. Airlines allow it!

uh yeah, if you don't get pulled over. you can't buy one at home a bring it?> you're like, risking your kids lives.

Lori
I would definately go buy the carseat so you don't endanger your children hon. It's not worth it. Good luck!

We had the same issue when doing a long term rental in Orlando last year. What we did in the end was rent the seats for one day, drive to Walmart, install the purchased seats and return the hired ones. A days' rental was about US$20, I believe - the same price as one of the car seats, but it made it so much more economical. You can return the car seats to any branch of the rental agency usually. We left the seats in the car when we returned it at the end of our vacation.

If not, leave your family at the airport and go. However, for the peace of mind, I really would suggest ONLY putting them in the car with the seats in - whether you buy them first or rent them for the day!

PLEASE don't drive without your child in a car seat.
It's not safe, not even for a 6-minute drive. Play it safe and come back for them.

i would leave them at the airport. its not worth risking something like that, your childrens lives or getting in trouble with the law.

Rach:)
you should leave everyone behind and go by yourself, or send someone
else to go.

They say that the majority of car wrecks happen within 5 miles
of where you start.
Don't take the chance. If something (God forbid) happened to your
child, it would be so horrible!
So just go get it, and then go back to the airport to pick them
up.

Anything's possible but don't take a chance with your kids lives, this would be the time you would get hit by a drunk driver. Go by your self and get the seats. you don't know the area and will likely be tired, don't take a chance. it will take half an hour out of your life.

Edit:

Actually if you take the car seats with you through the terminal they will take and check the kids seats as you are boarding the plane, give you a claim check and bring the seats to you as you get off the plane. The same goes for strollers.

We just flew to Florida a few weeks ago with an infant and a 5 year old. I carried the baby in her seat. (it has a handle) once time to board they took the seat I held her on the flight and they brought the seat back when we landed. I also saw little kids carrying their booster seats. My mother in law came and picked us up with a booster seat.

April 5th

I was thinking about it last night and I remember seeing some one with a high back car seat (like the ones that are upright with the high back and 5 point harness) that had a frame with weels and a handle so you could push it like a stroller or pull it like luggage. The seat was very close to the ground (somewhat like a suitcase would be) and the little girl just jumped in and rode through the terminal when she got tired of walking.

I don't know where to get them or if they are specificaly for travel. I'm not sure if these frames fit just any car seat or if they are specific to a certain brand.

Regardless, the option to take your own seats is there for you, they will accomodate you at the airport.

good luck.

Another thing to mention to them is that if they have animals in cargo (specificaly dogs) not to put the seat near them. I got my seat back after one flight with dog vomit on it! Nasty!

Here's one I found online

Is it really worth putting your kid's lives in danger? You should just bring your carseats with you!

OK--I have the time, have the airport, I just need the day so I can call my cop friends out there. They will be waiting. Which airline is it?

Just kidding. In St. Louis, you WILL get arrested if you drive to Walmart, but it is OK to drive to Target. It's only a half mile farther.

I hope that helps!
