Since the Casino Queen has been in existence for quite a while this question is a little outdated. The lower class is certainly still alive and well in all towns that have casinos. These places provide jobs for locals but they dont bring in any new business to the near by areas since people drive directly there without stopping to shop or eat on the way. Gabling addictions are not restricted by class or income level. Ask any therapist who deals with this. A casino is just a place for entertainment and responsible adults realize that no matter what their social class. |

'the lower class' has a choice to go to the casino or not to go. Just like any temptation in life. |

sure, it's called freedom....you have the choice to not gamble or to gamble...it also provides jobs and an economy in an otherwise desolate area. |

Putting a casino in East St. Louis, IL could be the beginning of cleaning up this city making it a safer place to be. E.St.Louis has a bad reputation of crime. If the builders of the casino's want business It seems to me they aren't going to be a sucess with the low income clientel. Seems to me if they want business from everyone all around including St. Louis that they have a lot of work ahead of them to make this casino inticing to everyone. Lets hope that this could lead to a new, safer environment for East St. Louis. |

It brings jobs and money to the area. People who are addicted to gambling will travel hours to waste their money. |

I live close to those parts. I don't know if it is killing the lower class. It should give them more of an opportunity for employment. Do you have an example? |

It depends on which side of the fence you are on. The corps that build casinos probably know that lower income people are more likely to spend money in a casino than the upper class. It is a matter of locating the casino in an area that they felt would draw the most traffic. Is it right? Probably not, but casinos don't think about where the money comes from; they just want it. |

Not everyone comes from East St. Louis to gamble. It is just across the river from St. Louis, MO. It also brings jobs and revenue to the city with the casino. There is no limit on how much you can spend in 2hrs like in MO so many people would rather play there in IL. |
