Not true at all, it's mostly middle class, although our upper class is larger than most places. Perception from outsiders can be deceiving since our economy and housing standards are so different than other places around the country. |

Ooh, someone has been watching WAAAY too much TV. LA is an enormous city and region. It has people of all economic levels, quite evenly spread.
But it also has the entertainment industry and that means lots of self-absorption. So we have much attention paid to their lifestyles. Further, when they run out of ideas, they write shows and make movies about their own overblown lives and lifestyles.
And that is about all it is.
So no, LA is just like most other cities, some rich, some poor, many others in between.
Come see for yourself! |

Exaggerated! if people only watch shows like the Hills or Gangland, they'll think that because that's the only two you see, there's a lot in between. People who come and visit stay in the touristy areas, and a lot of those areas are around the really nice neighborhoods, and they know that the ghettos are as ghetto as they get, and that makes them think that there are only two different kinds of neighborhoods. |
