Mostly true. However, they do not guarantee your security, and you do so at your own risk.
Also, some smaller (typically older) general merchandise only Wal-marts (meaning ones that are not of the 'super-center' type that sells groceries) that have smaller parking lots will sometimes not allow any overnight parking.
Also, here in Tennessee, we have a 'Wal-mart Nieghbor hood Market', which is a smaller type of Wal-mart that is about the size of a large Kroger supermarket. They sell just grocery and pharmacy items only. They also have a photo-center as well. Anyway, they have smaller lots and the one that I live close to have signs that prohibit overnight parking.
Generally speaking look for signs on the light posts, toward the back of the lot. to see if the store you're interested in stay at will allow overnight parking or not.
Also, I was reading an RV travel website that talked about how some cities and towns in the U.S. were banning the practice of overnight parking at all grocery stores and large parking lots. So, watch out for those towns, because they're likely to be more serious about enforcement of overnight parking laws. |

Most do, because they figure in doing so, the traveler will buy some supplies in Walmart, or shop there while killing time. |

I was working at Wal-Mart, and a guy asked me if he needed a permit or something to stay in the parking lot overnight. The manager I asked said it was ok, and that he didn't need anything. It didn't look like it was a favor thing either, just that it was standard procedure. |

I don't know if they "allow" them to park there....I know driving past the WalMart I usually see RV's with out of state plates parked for the night or a day or two. |

I know for a fact that they do in Alaska. If fact, you have to make a reservation or there will not be a space for you. |

Yes, most Walmart store's allow RV's to spend the night in their parking lots, providing they stay on the outside perimeter, so as not to interfere with general store parking.
There are exception, and those are usually clearly posted on the parking lot.
Have spent many a night in Walmart Parking lots in my 5th wheel. |

Yes, you are allowed to park and if you can find one of their light poles with a hook up... you can hook up to their electricity too |

yeah this is true. sometimes it best to let the walmart associates manager know. I have done it with an RV several times. Sams club also does it. You should get the road map in the walmart stores that shows the listing of "RV friendly" stores. They do this because they want travelers to stock up on there goods. |
